Cheers guys, definitely liking the idea of a custom suit but hate being loaded with weight. I know from diving in UK in a wetsuit what I could get away with but then I was only in the water for up to an hour and it's a totally different physiology diving to freediving. Where do you go from Bromley devondave (Devon I suppose?) I used to live in Beckenham and will prob be moving back to that area.

and by the way OMD I went spearfishing with one of your Islander's weekend just gone, small world aye.

Mostly on the south coast, from Seaford to Bognor, and holidays in Devon when I can.
Does anybody know what conditions are like near Bognor at the moment?
And I just realized this is last years bl**dy thread, don't suppose the last days posts can be shifted to this years Sussex 2010?

A fella called Matt, not sure about his last name, mind you he's been over here for over 10 years now and it's probably like me from NZ with everyone saying 'ooh I know a Kiwi do you know a guy called Dean'.

Anyway nice guy, when I see him again I'll ask where he lived in Guernsey.

Managed a dip at Bognor on Tuesday morning, before it chopped-up.
Vis' was pretty good, at around 4m but deteriorated on the incoming tide and rising wind.
A few good fish around and one or two big mullet (huge.)
Aiming was difficult in the swell with low tide.
Managed a couple of dinner sized bass but the big mullet were just too skittish for me.

i am coming down to chichester for a couple of days hols was wondering what the viz has been like recently, and if anyone is in the area 19th- 21st the stingrays sound interesting are they still arround?????

If you're in Chichester the best thing would be to drive to the coast and have a look, unless someone who's been in posts a report.
If you mean Bognor then bear in mind it's quite shallow and is effected by swell.
Luckily you don't need much vis' to hunt here, lots of sneaking around looking in and under things, rather than ambush type hunting, (short gun good, long gun awkward.)

I haven't seen any stingrays since the end of June but they're supposed to be a warm water summer visitor, so maybe they're still around.
It's difficult to find much information on them, a project for one of our budding marine biologists perhaps?
You're not thinking of shooting one are you?

:naughtyNo i aint gonna shoot a stingray :blackeye would love to see one though just bit wary about landing on one!! will have a drive/dive round see what i find.

oh and was looking to buy a shorter gun so now got a good excuse can anyone recomend a shop in the genral area of sussex or thereabouts

went in for a couple of hours at selsey i thought the viz was good about 4m i would say. Just far enough for the fish to see me coming!!!! only saw 1 fish of size out of the corner of my eye but had a good time chatting with a tiny blue crab

'A man who was seen walking through the centre of Brighton wearing a wetsuit and carrying a harpoon has been arrested.

Sussex Police confirmed that a 30-year-old man from London had been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

A spokeswoman said: "The man was seen walking down North Street, Brighton around 8.45am wearing a wetsuit and carrying flippers, a harpoon and a small knife.

"The man told officers he was on his way to the beach to do some fishing."

He is currently in custody awaiting interview.'

Makes you wonder how far from the water is considered 'offensive weapon' and how far is 'just cause'.
Like chefs carrying knives and carpenters axes etc.
