yeah surfing was well good, i dont think its gonna be any good this week for diving anyway, but i may be wrong.

Where did you go for good swell? I thought it was shit on Sunday at Shoreham. Went windsurfing, plenty of wind, but no waves to speak of.

I'm pissing off to Portugal this week to get some serious freediving practice and a few dives with the scuba kit.

:t:t

i surfed the shoreham harbour got in at 7pm and got out at 10pm surfed over the low tide. i swam to the other side of the harbour and surfed the hallows and it was working really well over there.
the new beach was crap but there was still loads of people surfing there.

That explains alot, iguess by 7pm the swell improved. I was in the water at 11am and out out 1pm.

Just writing from macedonia went to lake ochrid today 35 degrees. water is crystal clear, dived with a leaking mask i bought from the market loads of fish bloody brilliant!! Hope the water is clear for my return on tuesday.

that sounds well cool stewart, what fish where they in the lake? you should have made a spear out of a sharpened stick haha and caught your dinner!
you have not missed nothing here the sea has been well choppy.

Hello All,

Just a quick introduction, my name is Paul and I am just starting to get in to Freediving with the intention of moving on to Spearing in the near future. Once I have mastered the art of becoming on with Myself and the Sea and being able to stay under for as long as I need..... I thought it would be a great idea to spear some stuff while I was down there..

I am based in Eastbourne and was wondering if any one had had any Luck diving Barn Hill, just off of Langley Point, also how about Head Ledge just off of Beachy Head???

Thanks for any help and Good Spearing..

Paul

Hi paul good to see someone close by im from polegate and only really dive seaford thru to Brighton ,i have thought of diving barn hill but boat traffic and poor vis put me off have u dived it yet?

Hi Huntfish,

I see your in Polegate, I'm just up the road in Stone Cross.. I haven't had a chance to dive Barn Hill yet but now that you mention Boat traffic, that's a good point. I will have to remember to take my diving float with me. I was trying to find some good local places to dive that take advantage of the Low and High tides that we have here. I just bought a copy of Diving sites in Sussex and saw that there are quite a few good shore dives not far from us. How is the Diving in Seaford???

Paul

Yea not bad on a clear day i havent shore dived any wrecks there yet but i think i have the same book and will definitly try out some of the wrecks, im off to dive Newhaven arm now so if u read this soon come down hopefully the water is clear enough to dive.

Agggh rubbish water is really calm but really brown so didnt bother going in tide was low so might be better at high hopefully weekend will be good.

fished the marina last night and the water vis looked like it was worth getting in today. How was newhaven arm? Wind on its way for the weekend though

Went it today at Eastbourne just off of Beachy Head, the vis was really bad..

Which made things very interesting when using my new Cressi Gara 3000, I have to admit it took me a bit by surprise just how fast the new fins are compared to normal fins.

I nearly caught myself out a few times when diving down and coming face to face with the bottom a lot sooner than I had thought..

They were the most comfortable fins I have ever used though, although I think I will have to build up my leg muscles a bit to really get the most out of them.

Does anyone know what the viz will be like this weekend??

Good Hunting

Paul

hey paul,
there will be no vis at all this weekend the winds are going to pick up this weekend so the sea is gonna get rough. supposed to be windy for the next few day which is annoying. hopefully the wind will drop sometime next week.

have found xcweather.co.uk to be the best and most reliable weather site yet - you may know about it already - friends who are commercial fishermen swear by it

Just checked it out and it looks like a good site but doesn't include me in Guernsey. Only goes as far south as Alderney. Looks a good one for you Uk mainland guys though.

Dave

shame, still compared to brighton vis/fish in gurnesy are probably a damn site better than round brighton!

Shame about the weather this weekend.

I'm off to Cornwall next week in a Camper Van following the coast from Eastbourne all the way down to Looe, does anyone have any recommendations for some nice dives along the way???

I'm taking a new Japanese Girlfriend to show her just how beautiful the south coast can be and I'm sure it wouldn't do me any harm to prove my Hunter Gatherer skills by providing a freshly caught fish supper if I get the chance weather permitting...

I'll make a point of checking out xcweather.co.uk before I leave.

i use xcweather all the time and it is a very accurate site i find.
dived the palalce pier this evening with huntfish and got 3 bass and 1 lobster, theres load of bass under the pier but almost all of them are to small to shoot.
lobster was about 10 pounds in weight ey stewart!!!!!!!! haha
