We need as many boats as possible! So if you can possibly bring one please contact the organizer, before the event and let us know that you will be bringing one along.

Conditions and Safety It will be cold so warm suits are a must. Please bring a lightweight waterproof jacket to keep the wind off you while in the boats. Your own flask of warm drink might also help.

The tide will be slack for the first three hours then will be running to the east for two hours before slackening off again. If you want to get out of the water before the event ends a safety boat will be on hand to run divers back to the ramp. All divers must register their end of the comp on leaving the water.

History. This is the best time of year for fishing Bognor as the bream shoals move in attracting large shoals of Pollack and Bass. Expect a winning catch of over twenty fish if conditions are right. Watch out for Boats including Yachts, as there are several launch ramps and sailing clubs in the area.

We had a very rare event yesterday for Sussex waters, I dropped Trosky on a wreck in 45ft of water, his first comment I can see the buoy line right to the bottom, he then dived and came up seconds later with a nice 5lb edible fish saying that I must get in the water and have a look. Changing places I lay on the surface and could see the hole wreck below me with a huge shoal of pelt whiting swimming around it and cod up to ten pounds cruising through them in two and threes. We had already had our first bass of the season an hour before with two fish of 4 lbs taken from holes in shallower water, lets hope the season continues in this way we deserve it after the last two seasons.

Due to the possibility that we are not sure if we can take them for the table in sussex at the moment, all I can say is that they go nicely with chips and we are not endangering the spieces.

Im diving today in shoreham so will let u know tonight, iv spoken to jwells recently he is still diving but not sure why he is not on net . He has moved house recently tho so might not be connected yet. Wind has been ok last few days so expecting a good dive.

Drove to shoreham at high tide vis was bad from shore so drove back and dived Newhaven vis was about 6 foot in the shallow and 8 foot out on rocks . This was my first dive of the year and had a few problems equalising so couldnt dive past 4 meters . No fish today :(

Just to let you know the fish have come back and liven the forum up a bit! We took the boat out 6 miles on Sunday and found a spot in 50 ft of water with the viz low at a dark 6 to 7 ft. The trouble was it was late in the evening and due to heavy rain the light was going fast at 6 pm so we were forced to dive while the tide was still running hard. We had a shoal of good fish showing in one spot on the sounder so anchored up tide letting the boat settle over the fish and then let a buoy out 100ft in the current. My diving partner then hung on the side of the boat breathing up before doing a 1.5 min. bottom time to come up a hundred feet down tide by the buoy with an 11lb Bass, he then looped his arm through the fish stringer on the buoy and I pulled him back to the boat. The next dive produced a 10 lb fish followed by two slightly smaller to complete the catch, we have already had a couple of small fish this year, two of 4 lbs and one of 7 and have so far been spoilt by viz up to 50ft.

I love the way you describe catching double figure bass as if you're picking up a salmon at the supermarket ! :cool:

Recently read your book No Sharks Today , enjoyed it and would recommend any spearo to read it .
