It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Got to be one of the best weekends since moving to the island!

Huge thanks to Martyn and Sarah and everyone else for all the effort put in. Already looking forward to it as a highlight for next year and think it’s only right to contribute in some way, shape or form when the time comes around.

Happy to put people up, organise the meal, source some prizes, fillet some fish... might even catch some fish! [emoji23]

Great to meet you all. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and looking forward to getting in the water with you sometime soon.

Will also be booking the Monday off next time!

Here we go again....
Unfortunately it appears the tides for this years proposed event are not on our side at all.

Firstly I just want to explain that the competition has always been a social event.
The emphasis has always been on a fun rather than a serious competition .

We found last years event was a bit to much for me and Sarah to actually enjoy.
I almost had a heart attack running around on the sunday evening trying to do much in too short a time.

I have studied the tides in August http://tides.digimap.gg/?year=2019&yearDay=229&reqDepth=130 and they are not being very kind to us.
The first Sunday offers a low at 16.10 meaning we won’t be weighing in until 18.00
The second Sunday low is at 10.30am but is a boring 3.4mt tide
The third Sunday low is back to late afternoon, slightly earlier at 15.30 but is also quite a small tide @ 2.00.

So I want to suggest we go for the weekend of the 10th - 11th of August on the neap tide.

This would mean diving from 8am to 1pm that would give us far more time to relax in the afternoons and more importantly for me... time to fillet fish and prepare for the evening.
The down side is the small neap tide.
I am open to suggestions or comments........

If it's going to be easier on your guys then it's definitely the date we should go with . It makes sense having a more relaxed afternoon . Like you said it's all about fun anyway and still good fish to be had on small tides ! Look forward to it

Ok that is settled then ..

This years even will be based around the 10th and 11th of August.
Thanks for the offers of help, I don’t really need help as such, just more time and I will have that now.:)

The prize giving theme will be “Steam Punk”

I’ve pencilled it in the diary. Just need to sort accommodation now. Any good B&B’s anyone can recommend?
