Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Me and Jen will be over. I’ve just sent her the menu and am awaiting her choices.

As I am unlikely to win it (due to serious marshalling skillz) I'll leave it up to those who might be in with a chance to win it, to offer their wisdom ;-)
 
Well I stuck together a few bits of wood, I have cut up an ancient evergreen oak from a branch I have had for a few years.
I don’t really have the right tools to mill up a log but after a bit of a fight I managed to get a few laminates out of it.
The centre plank has some crazy grain....
I used an Ebony veneer between aach laminate....

The end looks odd, and grooves on the top instead of the bottom of the spear?
 
I have planed and sanded the oak barrel to be straight and symmetrical, now it is time to add lateral strength and think about the finished shape...
I cut a slot either side and glued in some Mahogany and made a very basic jig to align it all...
