Spare-air bottle bail-out if the scooter dies at depth;)

isnt it extremely dangerous to begin breathing mixed gases while in the middle of a dive? i heard it was, but let me kno if im wrong because it sounds like a nifty idea if it isnt.

Well, ..........................blacking out and eventually breathing water is generally considered much worse! ;)

I've have the bottle filled with air or nitrox, not trimix, so it isn't as bad as you would think. Still anytime your doing repeated ascents you run the risk of getting bent- you don't need to breath off a bottle for that as we have seen form some of the divers on the list.

Since I have never had to use it I can't say as I would get hurt, but has Jim pointed out a case of DCS beats drowning any day of the week. :duh The times I use the scooter are always on a charter boat with enough other tanks on board that I could always jump back in and recompress if I felt the need to do so.

I orignally got the idea from Kirk who was worried about flooding the scooters he was using at the time.
