Vobster Freedive Weekend

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Morning gang, a quick update on the dive weekend.
I took a small detour over to Vobster this morning on the way to work and booked us all in, so they’re expecting between 20 and 30 people over the weekend of 27th and 28th June.
Try as I might to get a discount on the entrance fee of £15 per person per day but they wouldn’t move so I’m afraid to say that it’s going to have to be £15 each on the day to get into the Quay.
I’ve also now booked a maximum of 10 tent pitches at the camp site which is about 5 or so miles from Vobster itself, I’ll take all the people that are camping to the site after the dive, so don’t panic as yer bad uncle Podge will be there to look after you.
On the opposite side of the road from the camp site there just happens to be a pub, so if any of you happy campers want an evening meal I’m sure that they’ll be able to accommodate you, or there are plenty of takeaway options if you just fancy a curry and bottle of wine by your tent.
The gates at Vobster open at 8.30am, but I reckon that if we meet there at around 9.30 ish for a 10.00 ish start then that will give a bit of time for some of the guys that are travelling a fare way time to get here.
Tis shaping up to be a good weekend chaps and I’m looking forward to it.
Best to all
Paul

The two hopefuls are in

We have got a full day pass but couldn't get the overnight stay

We will be there for Saturday only. What time is it kicking off?

Whatever time it is tell us half an hour early, me and Jay are rarely ever on time, looking forward to it

If anyone has any second hand stuff for sale this would be the perfect opportunity to off load it me thinks.

See ya

Steve

The only lesson you'll miss by not being there on Saturday is how to get drunk on Saturday night.:friday:friday
You wont need the BBQ if you're only doing the Sunday as it'll be time for home after the Sunday dive.

I'm going to miss something very important then :vangry!!!
How to get pissed after a diving session rofl.
At least I'm not going to have an hangover on Sunday .
Cheers.

It was like frogs crossing a road last time! Well, Bryn, Scott and I had nailed a few bottles of Rioja while the late afternoon sun was still shining:friday

Well it looks like you guys are going to have a good time!! I had initially hoped to come along too, but it looks like we will be able to receive Bryn over here in Donkeyland sometime, so looking forward to a course here instead
Well done for all the organising Podge!

Hi podge what time is kick off on saturday is the £25 each day or both, dan and i are looking to come both day, pleased not to early on saturday as we both work late to early morning specialy on that friday night
many thanks
ollie

So its £15 per person per day to get through the gates, then £25 per person per day for instruction. True or false?

What is the cost of the tent pitch mate? (And I'm not talking about liver damage rofl)

Tent pitch will be about £10, at least that's what it was last year and the owner said he'd do it for the same price as last year.
I'm not 100% sure that it'll be £25 per person per day for the instruction or if it's a one off payment, Bryn will have to anwser that one.
As i have said i'm only the inbetween guy.
Even if it's £25 per day for the both of you thats still a whole weekend for under a ton, not to bad, and you never know some of the training might just help you out a bit should the worst ever happen.blackeye

Spare Liver for the Sunday morning is of course optional; although I’m sure a few of us will need one.:friday:fridayroflroflrofl

Gents. Its £25 quid cash for the both days. If you only wish to only attend one day its still £25 cash!

The plan'ish so far. Meet at Vobster 0930-1000 on the Sat and straight into the classroom till 1230ish. A LIGHT lunch and then we will put into practice what you have hopefully learned. In the water from 1330'ish till we are done. We will cover Rescue/towing/spotting a SWB/dealing with a SWB/swimming away whistling/finding his car keys..

If we do this on both days everybody will get the theory but some will just get more time to perfect and practice. There will be no macho arse and no peer pressure, its a weekend for everybody to learn and practice.

Depth and duration will just happen as you understand what's going on and your mind gives you a little more freedom to relax!

Hello...I sent a PM to podge so as not to clog u the board, but now I've thought "right, I'll clog the board up too" ;-)

Got room for two more? Myself and John P, we have some AIDA punter mileage but a weekend like this sounds ideal for tuning our safety/rescue work. I'd be keen on both days, I'm not sure about John. Is the campsite booked out etc?

Hope to see you all there if there's room for us!
