Wessex Spearfishing Club 2009

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Just spoke to O'three and looking at the Southerly winds and what they said I think a dive off Chesil or anywhere near is off.

Shame but lets hope for some good viz soon...

Sorry, I am in the dark regarding the best place.

I haven't been out for ages.

Hopefully I can get out tomorrow, but I am working in Oxford.

chesil is lookin good at the moment but the wind is turning westerly (onshore) and picking up so could be out for tomo well have to see?

getting a bit bored with chesil now as had to go there so much for shelter this summer and only ever see small pollock, there must be somewhere else even on a southerly surely

Try The Great Barrier Reef, Australia - I hear its quite good there.

Hope that was of some help,

Gaz

I bet by the time i get there the weather will be crap regardles, anyway the great Boscombe reef (lol) is on my doorstep lol

Went out this arvo on the yak (sorry, i mean kayak!) to a little spot in the bournemouth area. had a paddle around, and found the reef easily as the vis was reasonable and i could see it from the surface. second dive i had a 2.3lb bass. paddled out further to try and locate a couple of other spots but with no gps and deeper water i had no chance. paddled back to the original spot and jumped in again. a couple of dives later i had my first uk trigger fish! happy days. saw a couple of small bream but nothing else take-able.

when i got out i was approached by a chap who turned out to be 'slimyeel' waiting for 'mishnish'. there was another chap with them but sorry, i forgot your name. good to meet you all! off they went out to sea as some fellas from bournemouth canoes came and had a chat. network-tastic.

anyway, how did you get on grant, chris and the other guy?

At long last the time has come to vote for the September Fish of the Month http://forums.deeperblue.com/uk-ireland/84117-september-fish-month.html .

It must be the best entry ever. Some great fish have been entered.

We've simplified the format so now the voting poll goes on the entry thread instead of being a separate thread so you can read all about the entries before you vote. Please reframe from posting on the entries/voting thread for now.

There is a discussion thread for all of the 2009 FOM's. http://forums.deeperblue.com/uk-ireland/84260-uk-fish-month-discussion-thread.html#post784201 . Please post here until after the poll closes in 5 days. Once the winner is announced feel free to post your congrats/comments on the entry/voting thread. Clear as mud .

Dave.

Getting near the close of poll, only another day to go http://forums.deeperblue.com/uk-ireland/84117-september-fish-month.html . Make sure you've voted and make sure your mates have. It's been a great month for entries and deserves a big turnout in the voting.

Several of the September FOM fish are featured in the http://forums.deeperblue.com/spearo-board/82043-deeper-blue-spearfishing-hall-fame.html along with a fair few other new entries and already an entry from October FOM. If you haven't checked out the HOF lately then have a look. It makes great viewing.

Dave.

10 hi guys, whats everyone's thoughts on the wessex club for next year...we had our evening dives last year, but thinking maybe we should look at putting together a small calendar of events? BBQs, planned dives, meet ups etc... and even maybe some kind of wessex pairs comp (like the LIC one) - i know gloworm has some good ideas around this - thoughts?
