Sorry guys, i think its one of the things we decided yesterday that someone needs to make a decision about where to meet latest the night before so even if the conditions change we all know where to be, when.
I must admit we did not expect such good conditions but i wanted to test equipment and paul didnt want me to be billy no mates if my float sank so we went anyway.
I suppose thats the beauty of the club, we all make an effort for each other eh.

Rick we tried to get hold of you but you don't answer your phone?
Fearthespear? I thought I saw some spearos getting out close to the steps, then I noticed a scubisnack & decided that it wasn't spearos after all - Must have been you.
As Broughy said - we should decide a meet up point for the club dive and a pub afterwards for the fairweather(Rick)/lateworkers(Tony)/injured(Gaz)...etc

Just sent a txt to everyone as a test to comunicate a meeting point for Tuesdays, I have unlimited free txts so thought it might be a good idea.
I have offered everyone the oppotunity to opt out if they want to.

Hi Guys, new to the site so just thought I'd put a quick post up.
Currently trying to relocate back to Bournemouth from Yorkshire. Got some gear through scubaing (is that a word), and a gun which was a bit of a jokey birthday gift. Hoping I can make it along to a meet so you guys can show me the ropes.
I'll keep an eye on the forum and be in touch when i'm about next on a tuesday or weekend.

Got my text to although it’s hard for me to make a Tuesday meet, it’s always nice to have the option.

I don't think that would be a problem mate. Membership of the Wessex Spearfishing Club is a pretty loose thing, with no formal membership that I'm aware of. And we would hate to think that there was someone out there having to dive on their own, feeling all lonely, when they could come along with us and join in the party.
Seriously though, the more people that join the better it is for everyone, as it provides a bigger pool of available 'buddies' to dive with. And meeting up with other, more experienced spearos (together with membership of this site), is a great way to get more knowledge under your belt.
Rik 'The Milkman' has been running a bit of a database with everyone's names and contact details on it; I think he is still maintaining it, so if you PM him your name and number he should get you added to the list for the Tuesday night rendevouz.
One thing we have been advising each other to do is join the British Spearfishing Association at www.underwaterfishing.co.uk in order to jump in on their insurance package (as it's fairly sensible to have some sort of insurance in this game). I think it costs about £25 per year, but don't worry too much about it for now, as you can chat to the BSA Membership Secretary at one of the Tuesday night meetings to see if it is for you, as he is also a memeber of the Wessex Club.
Apart from that, the only drawback that I can think of about joining the Wessex Club, via Deeper Blue, is getting slightly red-faced as you try explain the logic behind your username when you meet people face to face for the first time.

Hi to all,
I am new to spearfishing & have been out a once with 'surfnspear' & went up to Vobster Quay last year with a few others & did my first dive thanks to some loaned gear. I now have my own after buying a beginers package.
I am mates with 'surfnspear' who introduced me to this & later introduced me to a few guys, I remember Podge & Bryn, apologies to all that I have met as I am rubbish with names. I haven't shot anything, but picked up a scallop in Weymouth a few weeks ago. I was told it was a bad day.
I am living in Wimborne Minster & Brett said I should check out the Wessex club potentially to get more experience & meet up with other newbies.
So here I am.
