it may have been me i did fish that area last night . my 2 buddys got a mully and a pollock between them. i let the mully go by me and the pollock was to small for my liking. vis wasnt that great at all. no bass seen .

Was hoping to get in on weekend but weather is going to be crap, Bass seem to be scarce at mo or then again that could be just me. There was big Pollock off Bill last week but was waiting for Bass but none came in did not see any Mullet either. I did see a Sea Trout out there but was too small to shoot !
erm, at the risk of sounding like a moaning old twat, i'd just like to say that maybe some of you might need to swat up on your exclusion zones and regulations on the capture of migratory species: ie, sea trout and salmon.
not trying to moan but the last thing we need is a massive bunch of posts from people about 'can't do this' and 'can't fish there' like we had last year on another local thread.
i appreciate that some of you guys are new but ignorance is no defense in the eyes of the law.
sorry to sound like a preachy, moany old git but lets at least give the impression that we operate within the boundries of the law, even if some of us decide to take the risk to fish places/species that we know are off limits...........

very good shout. where can i find this info? I personally am not in a position to be ignoring regs as i work in the industry and my work is hosting the pairs comp. if any 1 can point me in the right diretion for this info it would be much appreciated.
Just take a trip along the road and speak to the Harbour Master, he’ll fill you in with the do’s and don’ts on spearing within the harbour authority area.

Hi thanks I read the first section and that was enough thanks, as I said never came across either species before, lesson learn't there. I spoke to harbour master couple of years ago to ensure I stayed on right side of law and he was very helpful. Happy hunting and thanks again, by the way you ain't a moaning old twat . Sadly I am probably the old one here errrrrrr oh to be young again.

Jonny, things have been quiet of late. I will try & get out tonight (Tuesday club night), if I can pick up my car which is at the garage. The courtesy car is a bit on the snug side, but probably will take it if I know someone else will be out.

I will look at going to Durleston over in Swanage. Bit of a high tide about 17.30 & a wn westerly, so will be protected from the wind. Hopefully the vis will be really good, as it was fairly good about 2 weeks ago.

hope the spearing is getting better down your way.
Been out a couple of times recently over here and actually managed to see some fish. first trip i managed a grouper which i saw swim under a rock in about 8 to 10 mtrs, on my first dive i didnt see it at all so on the next dive i manouvered around the rock slightly and there it was, alls i could see was its big lips so i took the shot hoping for the best, this was the end of my breath hols so had to resurface for another dive to collect the spear. on this dive i picked up the spear and i had the grouper, on the way back in to shore i edned up swimming with a turtle for about 5 minutes.
a couple of days later i was told about another spot down by our waterski club, so i took a drive down there when it was shut in the eve and saw a school of bass before i got in, so i kitted up and swam in slowly from about 20 metres away, the larger bass were hiding behind the smaller bass under the jetty. the larger were very skittish but once i had a sorted my self out and was on a breath hold on the sea bed they started moving closer, i got the shot off and ended up with a nice 3lb bass and on the same tip i managed a bream about the same size maybe slighlty larger. all fish ended up on the bbq straight after the session.

Count me in Cesar. Was at Durleston at 6am this morning, nothing caught, but did see a couple of small bass, just big enough. Couldn't get a shot off. Saw another larger one behind me, but this time I couldn't turn. I did try to turn but them he started to move, I stopped, then he stopped moving away. I had to come up for air and he disappeared.
Anyway I'll be up for a dive Tuesdsy night.
