A thread for all those gun builders out there:

What gun are you most proud of building and why?

Please include as much details as possible (or even pictures (y)) as newbies like me (especially me :D) would benefit from this knowledge.

Cheers,

Thank you, there are plenty more in my signature link under 'my guns' but It needs updating as I have build quite a few since.

This gun. It & its clones have performed well for myself & a few others for over two decades without needing any modification. Typically it shoots a 5'9' 3/8 spear with slip tip or prangers with 3 short rubbers. One of its clones currently hangs in NSW Parliament House & the one in this photo is going to the Underwater Skindivers & Fishermens Association (USFA) historian this comming Sunday for the speargun collection we hope to see housed if our own fishing museum sooner than later.

It takes about a month from start to finish, a few hours here & there. First blanks take a day to dry before truing up & then the trigger area is shaped & then the carbon fiber & "pregnancy" is laminated on. Then the bulk of the shaping is done before the but pad & then the handle. I guess just in waiting for the epoxy & 'two pack" eurathane to dry is ten days. There might be 8 hours or more in each one? This is the latest before being finished. They are all finished & rigged up now & are heading out to the Coral Sea with myself or mates in the comming weeks.

Thank you very much for sharing that, I've always wanted to make myself a 'proper' wooden gun, but find myself without the tools.
What kind of tools do you use? and do you have router table?

The Coral Sea , you going with Adreno? Sounds pretty damn awesome, take heaps of pics!

Yes, a router table is handy. No, not adreno, its a private affair by invitation only. I remenber when the owner of Adreno did his very first reef trip, he was keen back then too, I think his first child was born whilst we were at sea. He's a nice bloke.
