Thank you for the update and of course looking forward to experiencing these evolutions. Hope they are compatible, as you state, with our current fin system so we don't have to make double purchases.
All in all, exciting times are continuing. If not actually just beginning...
On the subject of beginnings, I would like to let our small but growing community, know that in the near future I will start a thread regarding hydrotouring and all it's fantastic possibilities.
After swimming with the Lunocet I have seen what great promise it holds for under and above water exploration !

Not that many guys have tried both the Classic and the Pro... But if Ted is even 1/2 right....

LOOK OUT.

Worry about your streamlining and keeping a mask on your face.

WOW!

Having experienced both, it doesn't feel like it should be possible, at least superficially... but then with understanding the physics, fluid dynamics, bio-mimetics and engineering... Yeah, it's possible!

Super excited to experience what's next.

This guy is some kind of dolphin-tail Rainman. A Cetacean Savant. A real Thomas Edifin.

The C&C Luno Factory is hard at work.

Good one AA.... Clearly contemplated for a while!

I get the confusion over Ted's source of inspiration! On the one hand he never really mentions being abducted by the advanced bottom dwellers....
But then he starts leaking the ideas he saw while he was abducted!!!??!!

You don't think they actually converse with him do you?

Maybe this is where we are going...

The news here is that with all the help from this community major changes are in the works. Some of these changes were prompted by feedback. Others by noticing patterns in experimentation over a decade. The flukes are in yet another revision which, although I hate to speculate, I will say the advancement in performance for the freediver will be greater in this next jump than the jump to the Pro from the Classic. The peduncle and the spring are also going through a major evolution. The changes, however, will be modular and compatible with the existing peduncle. I will have this stuff ready as soon as possible but I thought you may like to know what I've been up to.

Thanks again everyone... especially for your patience.

That is a fortuitous statement Ted!!!

I don't think we can say that Ted let the cat out of the bag....... But his post clearly reveals there is another cat in the bag !!!!!

After that impromptu flurry of very clever names for Ted which I thoroughly enjoyed.... Any inspiration for the next Luno name!?!? Or Luno nick name.....

Would make a good ad for waterproof mascara. Smiling with a snorkel on-so that's what it looks like!

This Luno went from prototype to multi generational antique in less than a year! That said, it still swam great again this morning!

I seem to have double uploaded the image. How do I edit posts? Is it impossible from a mobile?

I just removed the double. You should see the "Edit" & "Delete" options at the bottom of each post (I can but I have a few special privileges).

Thank you Mr. X, I seem to have the privilege to edit now, cheers!

Yes Neurodoc, I hope that my attempt at humor is not seen as making fun of anybody, or how they enjoy to swim. I think it is interesting that in almost all depictions, Merpeople are seen swimming with arms at their sides. As a result, most mer-folks in real life swim that way too. Maybe an example of life following art.

If only Ted would send me my very own Lunocet Pro, and then I could be out in the water practicing my merman moves, instead of creating and posting these ridiculous memes!

Xaid,

Here is the same girl after reading your coaching tips:
In case you thought no one was listening.....

No worries, Xaid! I wasn't suggesting your post as insensitive, rather commenting on, um, sleek-ness! You're right; it is interesting. I've always interpreted that difference to indicate that the merfolk aren't as interested in speed/efficiency, but more in aesthetics and comfort. One of them follows me on Twitter-I'll have to ask her.

When I'm underwater cruising around reefs I spend most of the time with my arms to my side. The reason is quite self explanatory, it's more comfortable and my forward vision is uninhibited by my arms. Plus I very much enjoy the feeling of the water as it flows over my head and shoulders.
For me the arms forward position is only useful if I'm trying to dive for "performance". And since most of the time I'm in the water for pure fun, I usually revert to merman style...

Now that you cause me to think about it..... realizing that I've changed to hands forward nearly all the time because of interest in gliding more which was created reading deeper blue. The skin suit suggested here rewards extension with more gliding too. Experimenting with hand weighting really rewards extension. It works so well with the Luno out back and the weighted gloves outstretched partly because the bobbing motion of the hands from the swimming stroke is dampened by the counter weight. That advantage becomes even more evident when striving to go faster.

Conversely hands back with the glove weight removes that advantage so it becomes more natural to put and keep the weight out front where you want it. It almost feels like there is a little motor in your weighted hands! There doesn't seem to be a huge drag at slower speed from lifting my head to look around. No doubt the gloved hands punch a bigger hole in the water than hands alone but there is no draggy sensation like I find with webbed gloves out front. I think that's why the webbed gloves are in the locker while the weighted gloves are in the pool. Used them every day since first trying the idea.

Has anyone else experimented with hand weighting?

Reactions: noa and Xaid
I have experimented with it by using my neck weight and just holding it in my hands. You're right; it does work a lot better out at the end of the body than closer in. A bit easier on the neck, too. I think I'm leaning toward just hand weights, but I'm going to try to do something slightly different than weighted gloves, pointier and more hydrodynamic.
