Thanks for the start list, Bjarte! Just a pity the official website offers no up-to-date information. In past years, the Europe Evolution Cup seemed to be better from this point of view. There even used to be a live TV transmission from the event at Evolutionchannel, but now when the heats already run, they show just some recipes for cooking cakes or what

Please, please someone post some photos of the results even if they are not complete yet!

OK, so if the post about 23 finalists was not a joke, it means that almost anyone who shows up at the start and does not blackout or otherwise misserably fail, will do it into the finals.

More precisely, if I counted well, 72% of women goes into the finals (23 of 32), and 59% of men (23 of 39). Well, since there will be certainly some DQ's and penalties, I would not be surprised seeing 50m performances ending up in the finals

The two longest swims was by Mikko P who did +145m and Dajana Zoretic who did 150m. She is probably the fastest DNF-athlete here! She looked very strong tonight and I`m guessing they are both clearly on to the finals.

OK, I've added todays results (half DNF qualification heats) to the global ranking at
APNEA.cz ranking - 6th AIDA Individual Pool World Championship 2011

I will adjust any errors or eventual changes due protests when the official results come out.

While things are rather different here on a number of fronts, one positive is that for those that make the "finals", the nomination of APs will probably be the most strategic we've seen for a pool competition.

The highest 2 APs for DNF and DYN and the top 4 for STA will have a decent advantage, plus extra stress of course...

They've put the STA final last for some reason, the morning of the last day, with the DYN finals the night before. So another factor is lack of recovery after long swims - so more tactical nominations come into play.

The AP WR in DNF belongs ... to who other than ... Dave Mullins. It is 200m from the event APNEA.cz ranking - Cressi World Record Challenge

However, both AP's of 200m in that event were DNS, so am not sure if it counts. The actual WR of 218m had a modest AP of 0m (if the source file is reliable enough).

Otherwise the highest AP with a real start (and a white card - which is normally necessary for a WR status) belongs to Martin Petrisko for an AP of 177m in APNEA.cz ranking - 5th AIDA Individual Pool World Championship 2009 where he finished second with 182m after you with 199m (but you chikened out with the AP and announced only 76m)

I don't blame athletes at all.
But if you compare to the year 2009 only Bjarte and Goran have right to be in men's A final. So, we a back to somewhere in 2006.

Well, there's just no incentive to do long qualifying swims in this case - odd that they're even having a qualification round. It's the finals performances that matter and we haven't seen those yet.
