airguns: Sporasub One Air 2012!!!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Nice, thanks for the link to your review Ivan!

Hey Don Paul, the new air gun will come in 120cm as the max size. Not the 130 you wanted on the Airbalete, but better than nothing, haha.

Any thoughts / guesses on the prices of either the Air One or the Arbalete Monoscocca?

I need new toys! :)

Looks like the new "Airbalete" or "Air One" has an elliptical air tank, similar to the old Technisub "Drago". Also the gun now gets oil lubrication, something that has been discussed before as grease never stays put and can gradually be pushed away from where it is needed. The hydrobraking muzzle has been given the flick, I wonder if anyone ever used it to adjust shooting power.

Spot on Peter, my mod'ed Airbi has been very happy with a few cc of Amsoil
5wt fork oil. I trust sloshing and misting synthetic oil over the stationary silicone grease any day.

I do like the increased cross section of the Sporasub Air One with it's larger tank volume and lateral stability in the water column when shooting.

Cheers, Don

I'm looking for Omer Airbalete 110 or this new
Sporasub Air One 110 gun. But I'm not sure which
one should I buy. I would prefer to buy Sporasub
Air One 110 but I'm always carefull with new
comingout Product. I prefer always second production
Series!!!Because of initial bugs etc. What is you
opinion should I wait till spring or what??? Thanks for help
Regards Goran

I think that it is better to wait just in case there are some issues that need sorting out, either in the design or the product's assembly at the factory. The new gun should benefit from the experience gained by Omer after having produced the "Airbalete" for some years now, so you may not have that long to wait compared to the situation with the "Airbalete" which had many new design parts.

Thanks Pete any idea if there are any significant improvements?

STC-X type muzzle which we already know about, elliptical tank and no reel as standard. Prices start at around 280 Euro for the shortest version. I just checked back and the page seems to have now disappeared! It had a video which I did not run; the page was picked up on a Google search rather than going through their menu system.

Now it is back up again, must have been a glitch in the system.

The text is as follows:-

One Air is an airgun with "cuttlefish" barrel made using a new production process.
The inside of the barrel is specially ribbed to strengthen the shaft and eliminate deformation. This shape distributes the air volume to optimise the speargun under water, drastically improving manoeuvring in all directions.
The ONE AIR features an 11 mm barrel with a patented vacuum system, the STC X-Power.
This system prevents the barrel from filling up with water during loading, and when shooting the piston does not have to overcome the water resistance which is usually present in the barrel.
This greatly increases performance to pre-load pressure levels. As the barrel is not flooded, the speargun also performs better under water as it is lighter in weight.
The slide release mechanism has three movements and is fitted inside the barrel.
This allows the speargun to be fitted with an arbalete-type handle which is bayonet-coupled to the barrel.
The hand remains very high on the handle, aligned with the shaft in the barrel and not below the barrel as on traditional airguns, aiding precise, instinctive pointing towards the prey.
The handle can easily be removed to offer access to the barrel loading valve.
The barrel and mechanism are lubricated by a special grease with a small amount of oil.
Supplied as standard: 6.75 mm "nude" Tahitian stainless steel shaft, without a tail fin for fast shooting thanks to the reduced friction.
Possibility to assemble and remove the reel without removing the handle.

Sizes are 70, 80, 90, 100, 110 and 120 cm.

I ordered a 120 from Italy and they say they will receive in April and ship it as soon as it's in! waiting... waiting.. waiting... :)

1st of April, confirmed.

I'm either ordering the new Sporasub SK40 (80cm) and a Seatec Grotto (60cm) or the One Air (80cm) to do the job or both... really can't decide.

Will probably go with the band guns as they are what I know and trust. 99.999% of spearos use band guns and I suppose there must be a reason for that.

One thing I have noticed, it is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE contacting all of these Italian spearfishing shops. Out of about 20 emails I've sent to various ones, I have had ZERO replies: I've sent emails in both English and Italian. Starting to get a bit annoyed!

Just got the bad news from Omer that the Sporasub One Air will not be available until the end of May / start of June.

:waterwork

Just got an email/invoice for a 120cm at 471 from dive addicts....check them out

Hmmm... I'd be very dubious. I've spoken to Sporasub USA who've told me that they've heard nothing from Omer / Sporasub as of yet and that no guns have left the factory, let alone made it to the USA.

SubProf in Spain tried their hardest to sell me a One Air yesterday saying they were in stock and ready to ship. Complete lies.

When I called them out, told me that I was wrong and that they had the guns. When I said that was impossible as they hadn't been released and I'd spoken to Omer, they back-tracked and then told me that all of the guns had been sold that afternoon... right...!

Some seriously dishonest business practices going on right now.

You're right Bro.
The first batches of One Air's will be delivered end of May/early June, as announced by Lorenzo Borri, chief sales manager of Omer/Sporasub here:
Oneair - AM FORUMS

As for Addicts in the USA, I've read his post on SB and, if I'm not mistaken, he says he's taking orders, but doesn't have the guns in stock yet.

Goods detective work gents!

Spag, is there any information on the Italian sites that gives accurate information with regards to gun dimensions? I just want to be certain that a 100cm pneumatic would be roughly same overall length as an 85cm band gun.

Mike, looks as though you may have to borrow one of my old rejects for the hols! Trolololol

Thanks
