I have a few people asking about dates for next year as holidays need to be booked etc.... who is interested and what works for you Summer 2009?
This is a fantastic trip- ask any that have attended and look at the previous threads.

If we go in July or August, we won't be staying at Telegraph Cove as it was stupid busy there. More likely a campground in Port Hardy, near good boat access so we can hit the REAL spots, ie: spots full of black rockfish and the occasional 25lb Ling... ahem.

If we go in June or September we can stay in TC again as it's very laid back.

Hi Erik,

Port Hardy, eh. If I did not know better, I'd swear you like getting two fish with one shot.

Its too early for me to tell yet, but the way business is shaping up, I won't have the $. Pray for prosperity.

I'm In fer sure! what about the charlottes idea?

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

Count me in, hopefully work will provide less drama this time around. I would prefer it to be a June trip. August means seeing the northcoast after it's been beaten by 4mths of charter fishing.

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

Good point Colin. I much prefer June even though it tends to make it difficult for some to attend.
June 20 to 27 it is for now.

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

June 20-27 would work for me also, I'll write it down and start the proposition to the mrs.

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

Go Scott! We'll do everything we can to accomodate you... ask the other 'Merikans that have come

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

I'm based out of kelowna now, so can provide a place to crash for those driving in.

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

Colin are you around there much? Or are you on the road most of the time..

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

Sounds good! I got the OK from my wife- Just need to get my hands on the Vacation Calendar at work (next Step)

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

Awesome Scott
You'd probably be flying directly onto the Island connecting from Vancouver, or you could fly into vancouver and we'd pick you up for the 6-hour ferry ride over.

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

so we're going to make the push for a Charlotte expedition? never been there, but from the reading I've done, and the folks I know that fish there, those wanting to come better start practicing now, water can be pretty wild up there.

Erik, Still down for a winter north island trip?

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

If my house sells then I'm in for a winter trip Colin.
Colin I'd think that there would be protected coves just like Port Hardy etc? You have more connection to that area than any of us- if you think it's better to go back to Port Hardy maybe that'd be the right thing.

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

Port hardy would be a far easier trip for our spearo pals comming from out of province, just for the flexibility the location offers.

we've seen the growing pains that first time divers go through when they encounter the deep dark spooky that is our playground, QCI might be biting off more then they can chew. either way, I'd love to get up there, but we need a solid crew to make it happen, financialy and logistically it's a big'un.

looking to the darker side of freediving: if there is an accident while on QCI we're in deep guano

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

All good points sir, so I've changed the destination to Port Hardy. QCI we should try to do at some point to feel it out, then maybe in the future we could do a bigger trip up there. I have a real 'broner' going to get there and start hunting, so it's definitely in the future.

Re: BC Spearo/camp trip Round IV.

Update: Whopperhead unfotunately can't get the time off at work, but we'll make sure he shows up in 2010 lol.
