BC Spearing Trip: Round 3 (2008)

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
See what I can do, but why don't you come on up to Telegraph for a day or two. Jim's got a largish tent (2000 sq ft or so), bound to be room for one more.

Connor

Pete,

Colin and I will be taking up the two bedrooms, but your more than welcome to stay in the billiards room on the second floor!

:)

I'll be out of town Aug 8-24 so unfortunately I can't make it out! Anyone passing through is welcome to crash or stop in for a visit.

Pete

Pffftt- you're hardcore, you'll be first in and last out like usual haha!
Sleep when you're dead Mofo.... :blackeye

I've lost a few inches of insulation since the last trip, might not last as long this year!

I'm going to try to get down there a few days early, could use a vacation.

ok, I'm about to call and book 2 camp sites, same as last year.

Lee: are you still a no go? if so I'll pack my cook stove and kit, as we won't have our master chef :(

so far I know of 6:

Erik & sherri
Connor
Jim
Gabe
Myself

Great news Colin. I was just about to book the campsites too, but be my guest as you;ll be there earlier. Sherri and I will be there on the 10th. Do you know Lindsya's number? If not I'll get it from Lee and try to book some boat time with him.

Hey guys,

Erik I will PM you Lindsey's contact info later today.

I am unfortunately not able to come. My father is still not well. Although, this in itself wouldn't prevent me from coming. The issue is that I had to use 3 weeks of time off in June-July, to help out my dad, and now I am unable to take the time off in August.

I could possibly get away for a trip in the fall if anyone is interested. There is always next year too :(

lee

Sorry to hear about your Dad, Lee. Also will miss you on the trip :(

Ahhh, the joys of travel arrangements. We have had a minor glitch in getting stuff to Telegragh. All the important stuff is handled, but I'm going to have to check my sleeping bag. The airlines being what they are, it might not arrive. So, if anyone has and extra sleeping bag, please bring it. I just might need it.

Thanks,

Connor

Connor I always bring about 6 sleeping bags so no worries!

I can't anymore, ............last time in the middle of the night my snorkel slipped out of my butt and I almost drowned! :blackeye

:)

I wonder if thats related to the disappearance of the marten that was hanging around camp.

Hey, that reminds me. I went and had a colonoscopy the other day and I gotta tell ya; it's the greatest thing ever!!
They gave me some drugs so all I remember from the 'procedure' is pretty colors on the teevee and a couple of clenching sensations. (I'm pretty sure there were some tall, grey, smoothish guys with big friendly eyes but its a little hazy)

Anyway, next thing i knew I was sitting in a little room with my wife looking at - you guessed it; A VITALS MONITOR!! Well, as freedivers you all know what that means!! 'Hey Kath..watch this!' After a little while holding my breath my pulse dropped until the little red light came on. The nurse came in but she didn't seem all that worked up and Kath was rolling her eyes. Turns out I'd done it a couple times already. The nurse told me a whole list of stuff I couldn't do that day then added, with emphasis 'and NO; YOU CAN NOT GO DIVING TODAY' Evidently I'd been somewhat on about diving ever since they took me off the meds. Reportedly there was much hilarity as I was being wheeled down the hall.

On the ride home I called my coworker and proudly reported 'I have the colon of a six-year-old..'

Nothing like a good colon story!
Jim can you remember to bring a set of 40-42 pockets for Sherri's fins? I'll bring the unused 38-40's as promised.
Heehee, can't wait to get out there.

It takes a special mindset to reflect brightly on the positive and fun aspects of "Colonoscopy Day"!!! This does lead me too wonder, since his colon is only six, does this make it prepubescent??? :friday

"What the doctor didn't mention to Chris is while indeed he had the colon of a six year old, that was prior to the procedure. After the procedure he left with the colon of a 25 year veteran Hong Kong brothel harlot!!!"

*** FLASH TRAFFIC ***

SIT-REP:

I have invaded the sodom-esq bastion of canadian deviance, "Vancouver", in preperation for our amphibious assault on the Island. The cactus Juice survived the south bound rally and Agent Doe's supplies, although misdirected by the evil imperialistic yankee couriers "fedex" are inroute to Richmond where I will pick them up soon.

back to the beer.

Alright. Wow it's been a while since I've posted. The summer has been wayyyyyy busy - but in a dang life is good! - way.

I'm gonna go back in the thread to see where everyone/thing is at, but I'm chiming in to say I'm still fully IN.

I'm actually going to hold back a day to do an amazing hike up Needles Peak (near the toll booth on the Coquihalla highway) on Sunday early AM, then I'll be continuing to the island from there :) If anyone is coming through Kamloops on Saturday and would like to do this phenomenal hike, you are more than welcome. There will be about 8 good people participating.

Other than that I'm a green light and very much looking forward to getting out there for some of the worlds best diving! I was just watching Extreme Green last night (with a new girly in my life). It's a 45 min video of what the life is like under the waves, along the BC west coast. A great watch for anyone who's never had the experience.

Awesome to hear that gear is enroute and things are flowing well. I'm going to bring a nice 10X10 canopy that will work lovely in camp (it's the style you see along streets for festival vendors). And of course my camera/housing are coming.

Alright, SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

I'll end this here, make some kick-a%$ sushi, and take a look back in here. SEE you all soon!

Gabe
