ello boys :) had me a wicked weekend away at witsand, shot some nice stumps, and saw a guy reel in a 31kg Cob (f'n amazing) sorry to hear bout the crayfish excersize. Have to love this country.

Anyway im selling a shark shield freedom 4 if anyone is interested. Getting a shiny new freedom 7 :D

...but we must def. make a mission to the Boss400 - around the front it drops to about 25, nice and protected, with kiff swim throughs of a sunken container etc. I think you can even walk there, have seen guys walking down a path close by but not sure how to get to it.

That sounds really cool. Let me know when you have a day free to dive it. I'll try convince Lenny to join us and I have another dive buddy who will definitely be keen.

hello! sorry john, got the hint nudge bit late, blaming all that desert between us... but am so keen for some deep wreck dives once i'm back! sooooooon! starting to really miss CT! never thought i'd say that while in egypt... ;)

hmm wreck diving, .... yeah sounds like a plan - theres always nice fish on wrecks, not sure if i will be able to go all the way to the bottom (25m), the deepest I've been is 15m-17m, but there's a first time for everything :).

Oh on Saturday I saw the biggest fish in the wild I have ever seen. I first saw this grey elongated thing swimming out in front of me, i thought it must be a small shark or something, but not a pyjama or a skaamhaai cos it was dark grey.At that moment I realized that I was looking at 'it' from the top and it then broadsided and slowly cruised past me about 2 feet in front of my face. It was no other than a record size Gallie, the biggest I had ever seen (even in Photographs). As is my luck in this sport, i was crayfishing, and did not have my gun with me!:head:head:head:head:head:head:head rofl

Thats too cool Lenny! Love it how the sea throws up suprises like this. I remember when I saw a couple big zebras (wildeperd) in a spot in the atlantic where there's NEVER zebras! (well there obviously is!)

I can imagine that gallie was false bay side. Nice to know the thing is still out there - maybe the navy picks it up on sonar?

Still wanna check some of those big(?) kob at melkbos - went for a dive there the other day and shot out to the reefs left of NSRI. Only saw a nice few hotties but didn't wanna shoot em.

Very keen for the boss wreck, rbotes - before winter swells hit. Could be nice to put a dive line on it for reference and safety, then dive around that.

Sea looking magic today. I think a small front/swell hits tommorrow..

CT misses you too Hanli. We are all holding thumbs that your dives go well!!!

NewWave, did you get a Spierre monofin? If so, how's it working out?

Heading up to Vermont for the long weekend - anybody know the area in terms of dive spots, or have dived thereabouts before?

Hey Yeti, how was ur dive on monday, the weather looked awsum! I was bit tied up driving my wife around to visit her friends (you have to do these sorta things now and then in order for her to let you get a dive in).:blackeye

Any plans for this weekend, I got the weekend off completely :friday! for the first time this year. Hope the weather plays along. Anyone going anywhere interesting?

It was really cool! One of the nicest kelp forest dives I've had yet. I've never seen so many Abalone in one spot... and huge buggers too. I know where I'm headed when they lift the ban. I just hope my wheelchair will be able to get down there :)

No plans for the weekend yet, but if the weather isn't great I think I'm going to try head to the quarry for a dive and then maybe do some cable skiing.

Yeah i have seen them too, but don't tell too many people, because if word gets out to the wrong people, they will rape smits. It happened about 10 years ago, boats where parked in smitsbay for a whole weekend while scuba divers cleaned out the bay. So it's good to know that the pearly are making a come back.

How was the viz, see any big fish? Might have been a bit cold. I have always thought smits is the most beautiful place to dive In CPT. Where did you enter? Maybe if the weather and viz is good on the weekend i can show you a few interesting secret spots.
I have a friend with a house there, he said to me that i can stay there anytime want.

Viz was excellent and yes it was cold according to the people in 3mm nylon suits without hoodies... but this is to be expected :) No big fish unfortunately or fortunately depending on the size of the fish and the number of teeth.

We entered via the beach and swam right towards the reserve.

The weekend isn't looking good according to WindGuru, but let's see what happens.

Sjoe it was clean last weekend in false bay!!!! We dived Millers on Saturday morning....top to bottom viz....water was freezing tho!!!! never saw ANY fish....gerhad managed to shoot a small (29cm) Wildeperd for his first fish ever...so he was chuffed. Also was his first clean viz dive ever..so was a great time..although we only stayed in the water for about an hour or so...got afew alikreukel for the pot tho..and a big sea snail which was good in batter ;)

Leaving for stilbaai tonight...got a chalet at lappies for the wkend...although the swell is meant to be up :( but im taking the rod and surfboards with incase...westerleys been blowing alot tho..so it should be clean if the waves arent too much of a hassle...

anyways..anyone going anywhere special?
Enjoy the weekend boys!

Well, enjoy Stillies Greg, hope the water is warm and clear!:fridayWhen my girls are a few months older, you better be bringing me with on these trips up the south coast!:t

Who's up for a local dive some time this weekend?

Hey Lenny, how about tomorrow early afternoon? I'm going to be at the quarry on Sunday.
