Awesome catch ! On another note - Helston... is the Blue Anchor still going ? Spingo is loopy juice :) ... have been spingoed on more than one occasion...

Spingo?? This sounds like something i need to investigate a little.

Here is one of the shots from yesterday. If you listen at the end you can hear a boat passing by. You see me watch it just before i commit to diving. I was by my A flag, and trust me,.. he was way too close to the reef!

The night diving continues, waited till 9pm and went in at my seal spot (anyone know what seals are like at night ? Do they sleep?) Bagged a couple of Bass a 3lb 10oz & a 5lb 2 oz (dinner for the Family tomorrow night).

But hit a problem I`ve had the bands fall off my Gabby before and caught them just in time , when I went to reload my gun after the 2nd Bass ( a real fighter, stoned the first one though) my bands were gone :( I searched for some time but no joy :(

Gutted brand new bands just fell off! Now officially my only gripe with my Gabbiano.

Oh and stear clear of Spingo ffs that stuff is evil! Why do you think Helston is the most violent place in Cornwall ?!*

*not necessarily true but spingo IS the devils work

old man informs me its mating season again. :)

The seals I swim with often seem to be sleeping in fishing float style at low tide. I'm guessing its more tide dependent than time of day

I get the same message from my old man every day - I thought it was just part of being a bloke.rofl

I find seals very spooky have been bumped by them and followed around myself - didn't help my agachon times...

Gutted about the bands. Did the detachable clip come free from the gun? That happened to me not long ago. Had to get hold of Dave at Spearo and get the whole new clip, bands and wishbone. Right pain in the arse, but quite cheap to replace.
Had a few seal encounters lately but they don't seem any different behaviour wise.
On a wildlife note, just had an great surf with a pod of dolphins!

Hey guys,
Does anybody know spearo dave here? Bought bungees nearly 2 months ago now off him and havnt recieved as much as an email yet to confirm he got it. my card has been debited and although its a small amount im fairly p****d off now as my last one is wearing thin and you cant buy spearfishing goods in Ireland.
Can anybody help??????:rcard

I believe Dave is on holiday at the moment.

If you have no luck mate get hold of Anthony at venture sports im sure he can sort you out with the bits you need.

Heres a link to his online shop Scubadivingstore.co.uk

Venture Sports customer service is second to none - a virtue that I am ashamed to admit I have willfully and cynically exloited in the past, whilst they have been bending over backwards to help me (Anthony, I'm heading down to Devon in the next week and I promise that I will drop those socks and gloves in to you as I pass - sorry for the delay mate, and thanks for the patience).

Baldyfish,

In my experience Dave has a fairly 'relaxed' attitude towards customer service, which is fine once you get to know him, as you can factor it in to any dealings you have with him, but can be frustrating if it is happening to you for the first time.

I expect that he has got your stuff on order and is probably just waiting for it to come in before he gets back to you - either that, or he is 'away' somewhere for a little while, as he often is. My advice for the future is to ring him before you buy, to check that he has actually got the stuff you need in stock, as this will help you to avoid a (sometimes protracted) game of 'cat and mouse', if you are short of time.

He may be a bit elusive sometimes, but he is a good bloke, and I'm sure your stuff will get to you sooner, rather than later.

Hope that was some help,

Gaz :)

Dave T always delivers but sometimes you have to wait and having done his job myself in the past, it is usually down to UK market being low on the list of priorities with respect to manufacturers/suppliers. I have spent a few quid with Dave over the years and can vouch for him.

Dave sorted out my Gabbiano perfectly but sometimes he doesn't get back to emails - best to give him a ring.

Failing that, Apnea are awesome.

thanks lads. just recieved a pm off him explaining of a mix up and the order not showing up on hise side. sorted now hopefully. bought off him before twice and although the suit, which was my second buy from him took 3 months due to elios having a huge number of orders, apparently.

Due to my course i serviced all my suba gear which ment that i needed to replace my dive computer. Just got a nice Oceanic Geo computer which is also good for freediving. I just need to get it into the sea now. Too much surfing at the mo. Had a cracking day down badlanders way last sunday!!

Long run of southerly's and a fair wadge of swell.....hmmmmm.

I usually go for three strikes and you're out, or rather, three blanks in a row and it's time to call it quits. So far i'm on blank number one as i dived the northcoast last week and though i saw a few fish, took nothing home.
