Clean fresh sand on the very lowest tides, walk along the waters edge until you spot a small hole in the sand, did directly above the hole with a narrow fork.
The creatures have a habit of expelling water in a quick burst squirting about 3' high, wear gloves to extract the clams.
We find other clams like the huge sand gapers but they are not so palatable to eat.

Surfs been excellent up this way with the strong offshores holding up the barrels.

Some big tides coming up so may have to go and seek out them Razors! Chance I may be down nr. Penzance again, so any hints re. good beaches for razor sell hunting? Cheers!

The doctor has just given me some great news. The sound i was hearing in my ear has turned out to be either side of the ear canal rubbing together. Surgery is on the cards which is looking like early summer!! Last time i had it done i was out of the water for near 8 weeks:crutch:rcard.

Not sure if i can get it delayed as it is getting a little tender!!.

Haha, the last time i had the op i couldn't sleep on that ear. Just as well as we had a new born baby which ment my good ear was to the pillow. I couldnt hear sod all!!! I slept very well,..... much to the displeasure of my wife!!rofl

Sounds like a giggle. Not sure aout stuffing a balloon down my ear thought! Would have to push right inside to find the space to inflate it rofl

Pav, my doctor said they are going back to the old method of hammer and chisle. I am sure they did the laser thing with me before but i had 2 weeks of agony! After 2 weeks they removed the packing in the ear and the pain stopped. I think they stuffed up with the packing to be honest. I need to wait to hear from the specialist to find out what he has to do and what options there are!

Went scouting for fruits of the sea today. Pretty rough conditions and at one point the sea decided to do a very brief and miniature Morcambe bay reenactment for me and the other half. Just missed the tops of our wellies. Anyhow, came away with the usual "shellfish news" (no razors, too rough you'll be pleased to hear Mr foxfish)...

Had to go in today, conditions were just perfect. Went freediving with my gf and found the sea to be really calm with pretty good vis. Both of us were trying out new wetsuits. Both were 5mm open cell (her's is a mint Apneasub Yamamoto spearo number that we got off Ebay for 41 quid :t, and I was trying out a "Must Dive" camo number I ordered from Diveshop Greece). All I can say is that we are both converted to the benefits of open cell now, especially this time of year. Came across a deep-ish scallop bed and brought some home for tea. Most were very mature and nearing the end of their life cycle. I say this because one I cut open had some form of old-age shell rot that gave off a real bad s##t smell during the shucking (killed and binned that one!). Others were very encrusted with slipper limpets. Cracking diving with good breath-holds and lots to explore. Saw no fish at all, only a few crabs. Found a kayak paddle on the bottom that had grown a mini reef so I left it in-situ.

Cheers lads, had half of them this evening simply fried in olive oil (ran out of butter!). Having the rest tomorrow. Words cannot describe...
The scallops were in ten or so meters of water at the lowest point of the tidal phase, so about fourteen or fifteen meters at high water. Still, 10m is about my comfort zone when scalloping as I like to do circular sweep searches when I hit the bottom. The suits were such a bonus. Only problem was getting my girlfriend's hair through the neck of an Elios wetsuit nearly reduced her to tears. Open cell was a real revelation to me though. I could have stayed in a good few hours. In my nylon lined Elios 5mm I get chilled after 1h 30m. Great build quality on the Apneasub one my gf was using.
