It is unreal! , this satalite image is only a few miles from the North Cornwall / Devon border! Genuine screenshot (I'm not just trying to send the summer tourists your way.... honest!).
There is a definate change in Viz as you approach the border. :t

Googlemaps. Look at the coast close to Morwenstow. Are there any other strange Viz boundaries on googlemaps?! rofl

The Hall of Fame is filling up fast. Lots of great stories providing some exciting reading.

If you’ve already had a good look through then you might appreciate a new feature on the main post just above the rules where you can find a list of the latest entries with hyperlinks.
With 5 entries into double figures you now need a bass (European) over 10lb to get on the board.
Still plenty of chance to look up your old posts and maybe get into the HoF. Just make sure you comply with the rules and give me a shout (PM).
If you’ve applied but haven’t made it up in lights yet then that’s probably down to me still “working on it”. Please be patient.
A little tip here. If you want to see all the pictures you have posted go to User CP (top leftish on the screen), scroll down to Miscellaneous and click on attachments and there’s a list of links to your pictures. However, here’s the bit I didn’t realise ‘til recently (although probably everyone else knew) if you scroll down again at the bottom you can click see thumbnails and hence actually see your pictures. If you haven’t done this then give it a try. It’s useful for finding stuff and maybe locating some HoF entries.
Connected to the above as I was too mean or actually too lazy to sign up to be a DB supporter I only had a standard (small) allocation of space for my pic’s. I therefore have deleted lots of old ones to make way for the more recent ones. Unfortunately for me that means I have lost some old pic’s which would have qualified me for entry into the HoF. But the rules say no pic no entry.
Well enjoy reading the stories and ogling the pic’s in the HoF and get entering your old catches before getting out there this year and catching something big enough to be immortalised.

So have been avoiding the water since November as have a fairly in built aversion to cold, but got blagged by a mate to go for a surf at Praa on Sunday. All I can say is I need to invest in gloves, everything else was ok, not sure if ready to break out the mask and snorkel yet thinking sat with my head in the water trying to breathe up may just kill me, not sure how you guys do it. Was a good little session though.
I got a hero 5 camera for christmas and then the add on pack (motorspots) for my birthday so have just been setting up my spearguns for action. I thought i was a little slow at embracing new ideas after seeing the likes of scott and kernowsniper. I figure it may also help my shooting if i use the video to see how i shoot! I will post when i get them in the water and have something to show!
I also got a nice DVD from Apnea online. Bardi - Technique di Peche - DVD - (Multi-language) . It has some useful tips and nice footage although dont expect any voice explanation of what is happening. It is all written on the screen. Lets see it it helps me bag some bigger and more fish this year!
Got to see the doc next week about getting my ear drill out:crutch. Hopefully it can be done very soon so i dont miss the start of the season!!

Someone ought to put together an extreme sports spearfishing (short) film for next years Cornwall Film Festival! There's no shortage of artistic talent from the likes of Trelawney and Kernowsniper!
The Italian spearfishing films I've seen on youtube are really cool. Lots of interesting tips from the masters like Bardi. Things like going over rocks rather than around them etc..

You have sort of read my mind though. I'm going to try and record lots of footage this season and make a short film later in the year. There are loads of shallow wreaks around that I'm going to try and dive this year, like the Egan Layne, Jebba and the Hertzogin Cecillie. Hopefully get some good shots from those.

Good on you mate. I say go for it! My girlfriend works alongside an organisation that runs the film festival down here. Went to see a diving film at last years festival called "U-Boat Death Trap" about several Nazi subs that fell foul of a secret minefield laid at depth off Padstow (too deep for us lot to visitrofl). The director was showcasing it at the maritime museum in Falmouth where they have a pretty cool theatre for audio visual presentations. It got me thinking about how one could go about making a spearfishing film that was a decent visual portrayal of the southwest scene. Still chewing that one over.
The Louis Sheid in Thurlestone is a pretty photogenic wreck if you get the opportunity. I freedove it with a pal from Brixham last year and was amazed at the colours down there.

Bah well my plans for the start of this year are well and truly scuppered. I was hoping to get a new suit and start early, maybe even do one of those freediving courses. but I've gone and broken my leg skateboarding
Bad luck, I have broken my left femur twice. Last time was surfing my ex-home break of New Pier in Durban in a solid swell on spring low banks. It was 6 weeks before I walked down the aisle:crutch
I was leaving for Mauritius after the reception and at 6 weeks (staples out but bolts and metal pin in), the fins, mask and snorkel were in the bag much to the dismay of my wife who thought she would finally make me sit still on the beach:naughty
I had a hell of a holiday on the reefs, waverunner and hobie-cats! Stay positive!
