Thanks mr x. The shots and angles were due to the clips for the gopro camera. I just clipped the camera in backwards and held the speargun upside down for the dive shots. The surface shot is of spearflap laying in the kelp from about a month ago but it fitted into the edit.

Not sure about fish magnet. Spearflap on the other hand!!!!! He could get into bed at night and wake up with a bass flapping around on his head!rofl

I will see what else i can do as i get the camera in more.

Just got back Fearthespear from Penzance end last night.
Speared the North Coast Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. 3 Bass, 1 Mullet. Both days got greeted by a Seal.

Swell was building yesterday and had a great surf down at Gwenvor before driving home. Even with the swell and wind as it was it required some challenging walks to seek shelter from the wind/swell. However Viz was crystal clear :)

2 very different dives. Tuesday hightide took the fish from the bottom hiding in the weed. On the Wednesday at lowtide took then from the surface amongst the string weed. Dives did nothing to bring them to me.

I expect the viz will be ok on the North Coast still but seeking shelter may become increasingly difficult.

Gah what a rubbish day! Howling winds , choppy swell! And I have a job interview tomorrow so my time of being able to spear whenever I want may be coming to an end :(

ok, so i am moving things slightly off subject with this being a spearfishing forum so for those who are offended by this post,...... get a grip on reality!!rofl

I know you boys and girls like a good bit of video footage, and i thank the guys who gave me rep and posted good comments about my vid, but i just saw a video which was done by a good friend of mine which makes mine look kind of weak. The music is perfect and the video and photos are unreal. Its the kind of clip which makes you get butterflies in your stomach. Anyone who spends time diving in our waters will appreciate how special this clip is!

I did but it got crap as the tide pushed. I prefer the shark video. I guess thats why i am back off to collage in sept. And wipe your lips to get rid of that brown stain

If anyone's interested, that toxic red algae was as far as Tregantle, in Whitsand Bay the other day. And today I was in Plymouth Sound and it looked suspiciously like I was swimming through the beginnings of it (and swallowing it!) there too.

Brilliant - a couple of years ago I was on the yak in Calyon Bay at 0500 and it was mirror calm..saw lots of glints and realised there were about 30 baskers from a few hundred metres to 1/2 miles off shore. They had chased the krill inshore, the sandeels were on them and the maccies and bass and dolphns were on them - hence it was brilliant fishing. I noticed lots of comorants right in close and when I saw a black object in the corner of my eyes about 6 feet away I assumed it was a comorant until we bothe realised it was a basker - he flew off in one direction - me in another. A couple of hours later the emmets were out in the boats buaaing them and they went.....It was one of those days where it is an honour to be on the sea.

The next day was choppy and I had to get in to get some spiders for a friend - viz was poor - went to the usual mark and every now and again you could see a shadow in the distance but nothing more. Went in to shore and while sorting he crabs I looked out to sea and saw the baskers only 20 metres beyond where I had been. Rushed home and took the kids and wife back to the cliff to spend an hour watching the sharks sometimes only 30m off shore. Then we started to see a couple of dolphins breach.....the emmet next to me swore it was a basking shark that jumped out of the water.....NOT.

Anyway - brilliant videos to both...can't wait to get in. The red tide is still in Carlyon but seems to be clear from Dodman no Pendower.

A Going for a foundation degree in Marine Conservation. 2 years or i can do an additional year and get a degree in marine biology. I was not made to be cooped up in a car all day so figured it was about time i did something which i have always wanted to do.

What are you doing? They jusy sent me thru details of freshers week!!! A week of dringing and games!:friday Me thinks i may be a little too old for that but it could be fun.roflroflrofl

Great story diver9. I have swam with 1 baskingshark years back on my way in from a dive when i use to be a bubble blower. I am desperate to be in the water with them again but like song in my friends video shows thay are very elusive. Love that song!!

I'm doing a 2 year foundation degree in marine science at falmouth marine college, with the optional 3rd year for either a BSc honours enviromental resource management or ocean science.The first being at Camborne and the latter being Plymouth. I'll cross that bridge when i get to it though, three years seems a pretty long time! I've had enough of dust and resin and general toxic unpleasantness and now seemed an ideal time to get some qualifications under my belt.
Yeah i got that freshers week stuff.....gives the wife no end of amusement.
Looking forward to though, wifes due in Novemeber so my life is is about to get a little more busy to say the least.
Good luck with it all, it's well worth it i reckon.

Very similar to mine. 2 Years at Newquay collage and the 3rd at plymouth, although they said i could do an additional 2 years in newquay part time instead of the 3rd at plymouth for the marine biology. 2 years is long enough for someone my age and 3 is pushing things. I dont think 4years is an option for me. I will be pushing my zimmer around by the time i finish at this rate!rofl

I have had a fair it of ribbing about freshers week, mind you i think she is just a little green eyed due to my field trip to the algarve:t

The waves are looking good now so just about to head off to penhale. Time to get back into the water.

Good luck for novemeber. Time to get the old boy trimmed or are you going for more?

Good luck with the course - Won't see the sharks in the bay this year due to the bloody red tide.
