I’ll told you mate, you gota get the pasty that’s going to make the MOST crumbs and eat it in the passenger seat of your mates car while on route to your dive spot, not only will the pie give you a boost but it’ll ruin your mates bottom times as he’ll be thinking about all the crumbs on his front seat.roflroflrofl

Cheers guys, It's been a good year for baskers I've had six dives with them (if you count my scare the other day) so far, I wish Id had my HD camera for the first couple! Your deep water dive still takes the biscuit though Gutshot.

I've also paid for my good Basker fortune in low Bass returns, can't have everything!

Just thought I would post up a few pics of the teak 75 I made. Just finished it this evening, rather pleased with it! I really enjoyed making it, it's been a while since I did any woodwork. Only regret is I wish I had made it a bit longer! Still, there's the excuse to make another one already

Everyone - me and the much better half will be in your 'hood next week. Do you have any suggestions for camp sites? Ideally Rame area, possibly Fowey area and then we're off to 'The Secret Garden' near St Just.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Got in for a night dive this evening, my plan was to enjoy the Meteors from the sea but Cornwall through up the mandatory blanket of cloud (the eclipse special).

Still the water was clear and the Bass were out an about. I encountered 3 as I came over a rock ledge, they scattered and one of them cut diagonal past me and I took him in the gill plate. Later I found a lone Bass in amongst the rocks and he came home with me. They were a decent size so I decided to call it a night. I gutted one and left the other one to weigh it which turned out to be a mistake.

The were 6lb and 6lb 2. But when I gutted the other one at home I found quite alot of worms around the gut area and realized I should have gutted it immediately I picked out about 20 of the *******s and put it in the freezer, but it's put me off eating it! I guess I`ll fillet it and see how it looks

Can anyone give me some advice or opinions on dive torches, Ive had an offer to go out on a night dive and have also been offered a UK light Cannon HID torch on the cheap but with the power of LED torches these days and taking into account the cost of replacing a hid bulb what would you recommend I go for ?
Any advice would be great Thanks

I cant comment on the HID torch or the cost of replacement of the bulb. BUT
I have bought the 'Lenser Frogman dive torch' and couldnt be happier have used it on 3 night dives now (TomH has the same torch) and without spending big bucks dont think you can get much better. The switch is easy to use and the batteries that come with it last for a decent amount of time. Its on the internet for around £40 and is avaliable in black or neon yellow, see link:

I wouldn't use anything but a Princeton Tec Shockwave LED. You'll be paying double the price but you wont regret it. I'd consider the Frogman a decent backup torch.

Thanks, Ive got a frogman torch but wasnt to sure if it was ok as a main torch but it does seem really bright, the only reason I ask about the HID is because its been offered to me for £60 and I think theyre around £300 for the rechargable version to which it is, but the only drawback is the replacement bulbs are around £70.

I'll have a look at that one, the frogman is definately a good torch and very bright for its size.

Have been considering upgrading to a brighter torch for my main one like the Shockwave, when the vis is ok what sort of area does it illuminate ?

The Princeton miniwave led looks good it produces 337 Lumens only 63 lumens less than the shockwave and lasts upto 20 hours.

Whilst we've been on the subject of camera attachments.. just done one for the Gopro HD for my new gun.. tricky to find somewhere to mout it but I think I got the best place I can.. the reel mount.. cost me nothing to make.. couple of bits of plastic cut with a junior hacksaw.. then sprayed up (cos it was bright yellow!) - Seems very solid!

Got the flat lens too so images should now be crisp.. can't wait to get some footage!!

Thought I'd post some pics up for you all to see.. maybe this will work for some of you

Re torches - my bro OMD has just bought a new LED torch that only cost £50 & he recons it is amazing for the money. Unfortunately he is on holiday at the moment & I dont know the details.
Magpie might though?
