Hey Dave which fish is that I always see masses of them on night dives.
I often think of dropping the gun and focusing on the seal love when they come in to play! Next time I think I'll opt for the camera. They are great photos.
I got in after work. Viz was a bit patchy so all the hunting was on the bottom. Collected an edible crab but later decided to leave it as fancied some pub grub tonight!
Came by a shoal of well over 100 small (3") fish. They had the little barb thing under the chin like cod, but these has two finger width stripes on the body. Def. not pollock as there were pleanty of these about. I'm sure I've seen them before but tonight they got my attention as the shoal was HUGE.
A few small Bass and mullet around but nothing of a good size. Looks like the surf will get my attention for the next few days.
Just got back from a few days down you boys neck of the woods, had a great time although the wind and swell slowed us up a bit for the first couple of days. Found a sheltered spot out of the swell and shot a few flatfish out on some sand. Went and had a swim just up the coast from a lighthouse that I’ve speared many times in the past and had a visit from want seemed to me as a family of seals which was great until the big old bull decided he’d had enough and all but chased us out of “his” sea.
Finished the last couple of days at one of my favourite spots and managed a few fish, Bass and Mullet the best going just over the 6lb mark.
As ever ate too much and drank even more, even did a bit of karaoke at the pub we stayed at, by god we must have been pissed.
Happy Days gents of Cornwall.![]()
Even the seals have the "gerrr oooff my laaaand" aproach and vote for Cornish independance.![]()
Mate every time I come down I have to stop at The Jamaica Inn to get my passport stamped and the first taste of the mighty pasty past my throat.
And don't panic we only had a few of the cornish fish stock away, your minder seals saw to that:blackeyeroflrofl
Good to hear you enjoyed it and had a good ballance of success. Sounds like you put a few quid into the local economy (St Kevern wasn't it).
I have a scheme starting down there now so hope to get in the water down there after a site visit while the water is warm enough and the good fish are about.
