Got in today in north cornwall. Great sunny day and really good vis. No fish.
Just getting rid of my cold and couldn't clear the pressure so basically ended up on the surface of about 8 metres deep water. Very annoying !!
Anyway was good to get in again, saw a few wrasse and a shoal of what looked like bass from a distance, but I think too small !!
Anyway, hopefully going next Sunday if conditions are good
Did anyone else get in other the weekend ?

Got in yesterday, round sunset south of Falmouth. The place was absolutely teeming with pollack but mostly undersize/borderline and visibility was good..
Found out my wetsuit is definitely in need of a replacement, and unfortunately my mask strap (Cressi Occhio) broke which was pretty annoying. Kind of bodge-fixed it, but need looking at... Good start to the season:-S

Hi All... just a quick dive summary from the last few weeks. Been in about 5 times all on the North Coast around the Newquay area. Vis has been good to really good every dive.. up to 15m on one day when we'd had offshore winds and no swell for a while! First few dives were pretty sparce for fish but I've definitely seen an increase as the month goes on. Seen some big cuttlefish.. a first for me.. but they stayed out of range.. then the last couple of dives seen some big shoals of bass.. mostly schoolies and some very wary bigger fish keeping their distance. Last dive was late evening and generally saw a lot more fish.. much bigger pollack close in, I just not that fussed for pollack! Due to the good vis its been the first oppurtunity I've had to take out the double banded RA140.. truly a beast of a weapon! Typically the first big fish of the season that I've seen so far.. lined it up and 'click' :head safety catch! - Next time!!!! :martial

I believe the Tuna King has been quite busy with work, family and lately nursing a hideous cold too. Pretty sure he's more than amped to get in tho.. he just shelled out for some new carbon blades and the Omer Zero 3 mask! We should all hook up for some offshore dives this year.. start putting some marks on the map like the boys up Portland do

Next to nothing at all, 3 or 4 times since Christmas is all I’ve had time for so far, but the summer is on the way and I hope to make a little more time. Coming down your way for a week early September for a bit of Cornish bass and lobster, and hope to do a few Sunday trips while the Olympics are on. I’ll give Brett a bell and arrange something?

Got in this morning at my favorite local mark. good vis lots of baitfish and fry. At last the mullet have started to show, managed to bag one of around 2lb for tea, first of the year. Also saw a small sea trout. All in all a very pleasant dive.
Not sure but I think I may well have spyed you among the rocks yesterday scallywag. Was there a SUP boarder hanging about too?

I've only been in around the Dodman and north coast so far this year without spotting anything useful. Sounds like it might be worth getting in at the weekend if I can.
Have covered a few spots in the St A bay in the past but suspect most will be churned after the easterly winds. Have an idea on a new spot I haven't tried before maybe for the weekend.
Fingers crossed that even if the fish aren't about there will be some decent spider crabs in by now.

Ahh.. I was a bit further south doing some scouting and a bit of fishing.. saw a spearo in the bay I launched from. Thought it might have been you.
Yeah I've been thinking of checking out that area this year... looks like a slack tide spot as I'd imagine the currents there are pretty strong round that headland. Hows it fished on the rod.. had much?

On its day its great with pollack to mid teens, whiting and bass. Its really snagy to fish with quite a strong tide race. You'd have to drift it with a boat on the surface, the Portland boys would love it.
You see bubble blowers there sometimes in the summer, but not managed to hook one yet!

Yeah.. That's exactly why I thought it'd be a good mark!
Drift diving a race is something I've not done before.. but looking at what those boys are bringing up its gotta be a risk worth taking every now and then!
