Hi all.

Total newbie in the spearfishing world after getting a gun late last year.

Managed to get my first dive this year on Friday in north cornwall. (between Trevose head & morgan porth) Vis was brilliant.

This was my first dive with my new weight belt and found it a lot better/easier. Wasnt diving deep and had 6kg....but think i could do with 8kg.

Anyway back to spearo, I didnt manage to get anything, even though I had the best opportunity ive ever had on a fish. A 4lbi sh mullet that I don't know how i missed. I just got so excited !! .....well gutted. Saw a few more mullet and a big wrase. Enjpoyed getting in and think I've found a new decent spot :)

Long shot.. but is anyone selling a second hand sit on top kayak? Looking for a cheap one for the summer...

Thinking of selling mine at the minute. Not particularly cheap as it's a decent one. Malibu Mini X. I've been advised that they are quite sought after as they've stopped making them. I bought mine because it went inside my old Discovery. A great fishing set up with forward and aft rod holders. Will of course do a bit of discout for a fellow spearo. My daughter wants to get out now so looking to get a bigger 2/3 man one. So got to sell my wake board too if anyone is after one.

I'll pm my number.

Guys please use the for sale threads or use the pm system, I dont mean to be an old fart but, we dont want DB to become an EBay & beside you will get a bigger audience looking to buy & sell on the appropriate threads ;)

Seems like everywhere has tonnes of chewed up seaweed clogging it up right now.

Managed to find a sheltered north coast spot for a night dive on Saturday. Made it through the debris to deeper water and fount some surprisingly good vis, but saw literally nothing. Not a single fish. Incredible!

I found one good sized spider, but had no catch bag. torch in one hand , gun in the other, and feisty spider trying to chop through my glove in the dark wasn't working so i left him. Ended up with nothing. :(

Yeah, the zebra crossing on Penzance seafront was strewn with it ,thats the roughest iv'e seen Mounts Bay for a long time ,strong easterlies are not that common thankfully.

Am I the only one thinking the north coast is going to clear up nicely in the next few days, or am I just being hopeful? I reckon it will be clear far up the coast by the end of the week.

Ah sorry Foxfish.

Pav think you might be right, this was Falmouth this evening!

Yeah. Sorry Foxfish. Gone to pm.

Great picture Tom. Was that taken from in the water? What camera are you using?

I have gear in the car and thinking of checking out the north coast later. Got some fishing gear as a back up. But next day or two are looking good. If there are any fish about.

Well I can report 2m viz up here on the border! I kinda felt the estuaries may be against me with all this rain, but the winds have clear it as expected. Felt cold, and although fun to get in with the speargun very little about.

Nice seeing some south coast surf! Cheers.

I didn't make it into the water, day didn't quite go to plan.

Will keep watching for an oportunity, but I'm also loving some of the small clean surf we're gettign at the moment. I love longboarding in the small stuff.

Hi guys

I've done a fair bit of freediving in the past but now I'm looking to get started spearing too since I recently moved to Newquay

I don't have transport so I'm looking for some advice about where are some good places to get started in the local area

I'm living in the Pentire area and a couple of hundred metres from South Fistral. The rocks here look like they might be home to some fish and I went coasteering last week up at the north end of Fistral (Gazzel) and this looked like it had even more potential.

Are these places any good and can anyone recommend me somewhere to get started? What about other places nearby (Pentire, Cribbar etc)

Much appreciated!

North coast conditions have been great.

Dived yesterday and actually managed to feel like I was doing some real dives. Finally found the fish as well, spotted a big shoal and did everything right , lured them back in , stayed well hidden. A HUGE shoal of good size mullet with some smaller Bass mixed in and ... and... I got target blindness, lol couldn't decide which one to shoot, finally sighted one , move my gun a bit too fast and spooked them a little, stupidly instead of freezing and waiting for another one of then to come into my sights I tracked my target and fired too quickly and bloody missed. By right I should have hit one by accident there were so damn many lol

Still I saw a lovely big cuttlefish on the way back and had a fun 10 minutes playing with him, he was the biggest I've ever seen, and pretty rare to find them scooting about in plain sight during the day, it was a treat!

A great dive despite coming home empty handed.

Oh and here is a little vid from a night dive last week...

Shame EMI have blocked the vid.

I got in yesterday morning on the north coast.

I was rather diaspointed with the vis.

However I was far more disapointed with my brand new Eye of Mine flat lense housing, which despite only diving to 3m decided to leak and unsurprisingly the salt water has killed my GoPro. :-(

Gutted is an understatement.

Saw no fish, but a few more spider crabs starting to show.

Yeah you def want the go for focus lense for the go pro

aquapixs

Which country has EMI blocked the video in ? The UK ? I can still see it is that because it's my video ? Edit: ah it is wankers!
