Hi guys,
Just dropped in from the Dorset thread.. Woke up this morning with an urge to dive (instead if sorting the garden) and had a dream about Looe randomly so thought it may be a sign.. Anyone care to share a vis report for the Looe area.. or perhaps North Coast Port Quinn type area. Dont really want to spend the petrol money if its blown out! Cheers Joe

so dont mind any traveling, had a few dives last year but only been out once so far year , but iam hopeing to team up with some others ,safety first and all that :) so if anyone wants to team up give me a shout or pm

I don't know any good spots (yet) and my gun is still on it's way to me in the post, but I'm based in Newquay and would be happy to dive with you locally before/after work if you wanted

Got in the water today on the north coast. Usually a surf beach but flat as today.

Viz was stunning. I'd estimate at more than 15m in places. Some of the best vis I've ever seen in the uk. No Bass but I like the spot. Saw far more pollack and wrass than I have to date which is a good sign. The spiders are in and I picked up a couple. One for us and one for my mate with a boat, always look after the capitain.

After a busy day in the garden and painting the house yesterday the 2-3 hours in the water have left me jiggered, but was a great session with such stunning viz. Stoked!

I think you lot are startin to get a little greedy now, keeping all this fantastic Vis to yourselfs whilst us Dorset lads are jumping for joy at 4-5m Vis.

As we are a community I recommend you lot stop being selfish, I think you should all get in the water at the same time and place and all fin together whilst holding onto rocks, then hopefully you'll push the clear water up this way a bit. :t:t:friday:friday

Question about the merits of south coast / north coast.
I'm into my third season now and I've tended to stick to a few fairly productive spots on the south coast. How do the two coasts compare with regards to fish stocks etc? I'm working in Redruth so thinking about some north coast dives dives after work when south coast is blown out.

I got in last night off Portwrinkle on the south coast. Visibility was about 2m right on the surface, due to a lot of bit of weed and stuff, but beyond about 1m down it was much clearer, maybe 5m or more.

I had a nice dive today off Padstow. There was a bit of sea mist rolling in, but the sun started to burn it off later in the afternoon. The water temperature was still 12deg, but there was 20m of viz. I found one nice lobster and six scallops. There were a few fish about, mostly small pollock. I was on a 60m trimix dive on the wreck of the UB-65 at the time though.:t

Had a nice dive last evening over high water, vis of about 4-5m and the water was alot warmer than of late. No silver fish about as is often the case on slack water but two large shoals of pollack. Took a couple of larger fish from the edge of the shoal one of which was a good fish of about 3lbs. I don't usualy see pollack of that size at that mark so pretty happy.

Just got out of the water after a quick dive on roseland, had a cracking dive; saw plenty of pollack, millions of small fish of various species but nothing of any sense to take for dinner. Plenty more life out there and I had great vis up to 8 or 10 metres.

Fingers crossed the dives get better and better..............

Just got back from me dive first time out this year
Went over looe area mixed viz up to 3m
But quite milky
Still managed a bass just over 3lb and a couple
Of smaller pollok
Seen a few more bass around but to quick for me this time
Was only in for an hour as the sea fog rolled in and
Couldn't see 50 feet on the surface
Nice start to the year for me

Just got back from a jaunt in the kayak around polzeath area. Didn't think that thp would be that great so left spearing stuff at home. OMG the vis was amazing. Looked at least 8m from the surface. Not much doing in the bays but plenty of action around the tidal races off the headland - couple of bass, countless pollock, mackerel, launce etc. Will be getting wet tomorrow night me thinks.

Gutted to miss uif opportunity for a dive but watching the puffins and razorbills fishing was a joy.

Got in this morning, wasn't expecting much in the way of vis after saturdays easterly blow but it was still a solid 3-4m.
saw loads of life including some nice gars and monster launce but little sign of any silver fish. Tide was running well on my way back in and managed to bag a nice schoolie for tea. This weeks looking good.

Welcome to lilil, my advice is to start off exploring the beaches around the area concerntrating on areas of weed and rock and transitions between weed and sand. study google maps and charts for different spots, start slow and don't push the breath holds. you'll be fine on your own around here, buddies are more important in areas of strong tides or at night.
