Thanks for the support folks, getting there but not in the water yet.
I did kayak Gull Rock with the wife last year. Probably worth a go if you can. There seemed to be more fish on the wreck which is marked with a bouy. Watch the weather and tides there please, gets hairy enough on a kayak.

The Hera is hardly a secret diving spot, it must be visited by dozens and dozens of sport divers every year! Lying in 15m It'll only be suitable for the more proficient spearo. I've never tried it myself only fishing it with rod and line. Don't worry I'll only share my "go-to" marks with a very select few.
Spearflap has a point. Too many guys post the full location of their catch. What some people seem to realise is that now a lot of inexperienced spearos will suddenly head to that spot because certain fish are being caught there. Next time you turn up you could end up with a group of inexperienced spearos all flapping around and that sort of disturbance will result in the fish being scared off. Now because you posted the details before you now end up with no fish around congratulations you just screwed your mark! We are predators and the fish are prey. Our prey will either leave the area or be more skittish with more predators in the area. Its not rocket science guys. If you have a good catch the great, but if you name your spot you reduce the chance of repeating the experience. As for spots like the Hera. It us a small spot. Turn up there with other spearos in the water then you may as well forget it.
You live and learn. After being a little liberal with location details a number of years back my out of the way little spot had three boats on it in the following days after never seeing another spears out there. I'm only too happy to help people out with locations via a PM these days but I've certainly stopped with exact location details!
It only really seems to happen on the cornwall forum. The other guys don't name their spots. Its a shame really as this site use to be really good for stories, getting an idea if there were fish about and good advice with new ideas. I have seen some nice quiet spots ruined with multiple cars turning up through the tide with guys who clearly have no right to be in control of a speargun all because talk of fish caught at certain spots. Perfect example is porthscathoe. Use to be a great little sheltered spot but apparently its good for flounder, or so I read, now everyman and his dog goes there!
Inclined to agree with keeping exact location details of top spots vague...worth bearing in mind that others with an interest in taking more bass than we do (i.e. commercial netters) may also have an interest in details posted on forums such as these...just a thought.
its the world wide web, every fucker can see everything anywhere all the time and when people post locations catching alot of fish ,you will proberbly find out the hard way. just think.....

got in south coast today - new type of dive for me in deeper water with a shifting current. buddyless on the top so didn't go loopy on bottom times but managed a bass and my first golden grey mullet. both 44cm and will be turned into cervice tomorrow.
If there are any AIDA (or equivalent) qualified divers in the area who fancy fishing at this spot with me then I would be keen to buddy up some time - I think the spot could hold some decent fish but don't fancy the risk on my tod!
PS its probably not a 'secret' spot but no chance I'll be saying where it is as the bass were flinchy enough as it is
