Great video! Your gun makes mine look like a stick on a spring... Were the two bands necessary for the fish in Guernsey? I was hoping to come over in a few weeks to Jersey, but only have a 75cm gun with 1 band... Looks like I may have to reconsider!

Isaac, most of us have several guns & use the one appropriate for the day but I think jonny used that gun because he has his camera attached to it.
A 75 will be fine....
Unfortunately we didn't have very good conditions over the weekend due to high wind that had been blowing all week!

Ah, ok, thank you for that reassurance!
Haha in North Devon, good conditions are when you can see your hand!!! Conditions like that here would be quite something...

Isaac, like foxfish says, you dont need a really powerful gun. I only added the 2nd band a few days before the fish in because i wasnt happy with the single band that i had put on. On the sunday i did need my bigger gun as i 'would' have brought home a few more fish, but that was only one of the bad decisions i made :)
If you want to try a bigger gun in Jersey then perhaps one of the Jersey guys migt lend you one??

Ah, ok, I should be ok with my 75; I've never actually seen a fish locally to shoot at! so I just wasn't sure as to how powerful it would have needed to be. but when I've sorted out dates etc I'll see if anyones free at all and wanting to do any spishing..

Heh Martyn, , this week I should be getting my hands on 2013 tide tables, so we will be starting to plan for next year already ! Me and the rest of the Jersey boys are hoping u guys will be holding a 2013 "Fish in".

Mike, of course we will!
It might not be sponsored in the same way but, I will be very happy to see as many folk back as possible..
I have two concerns - the tides are one but, it would be coinciding with a big shore fishing comp that could spoil things most of all.

What do you think about a mid day low being more important than the size of tide?
Do you think August is the best month?

We'll be there (all 3 of us!!!) - would be great to get the dates in good time for getting deals on the ferry/accom etc.

Planning on at least a week this time-44hrs just wasn't enough and I can't find that Rocquette Cider anywhere near home :-(

Team CRAP will be back over again for sure. We'll probably stay for a bit longer next time. Three days wasn't enough, we could have done a couple of days easily.

Any dates foxfish for the 2013 fish in /comp my wifes coming we are coming for 10 days I will get there one way or another !may do an channel island tour um...well that's the plan ... Fingers crossed...ta

I will start to enquire about next years rod fishing comps by asking on the Guernsey fishing forums but I dont think they will have set the dates yet?
Let me explain, Guernsey holds several very well attended shore fishing competitions every year. Some of these comps can see 50 - 100 anglers or more fishing!
Bear in mind we are only a very small island & there will not be room for 20 additional spear fishermen if we clash on the same dates.
I normally announce the 'fish in' date in January but I can see the benefit for some of you guys trying to get the best hotel & flight deals.
Denian, Guernsey is the best base for island hoping - Jersey is bigger & more commercial than Guernsey but it is geared up for tourism with lots of nice hotels & loads to do.
Alderney is a bit bleak on occasions but, is seeped in history & lovely if the sun shines!
Sark is the most amazing island & my favourite to visit by far!
No cars, stunning scenery, beautiful hotels & an overall organic place to be :)

Herm is only 20 mins from Guernsey but has lots of appeal for the "get away from it all" feel....plus a great hub bub BBQ & bar!

sSold to the little pair of hobbits from chester !Many thanks .keep me updated ta.

We went to Herm last night for the cider & beer festival.
Both Sarah & I drunk far to much cider!!
There was four Guernsey brews one Jersey & maybe 30 other brews from around the UK.

Fabulous night though... The trip over was gorgeous.. Tried more than a few ciders... had a few bad ones more than nice ones though.. oh well, bit of fun, trying each other's drinks... The Barlows "rocked" the Mermaid... Well done Kate Heywood on singing even with a mouthful of stiches!
Starry skies, lovely boat trip home...
How many people can leave work at 5:00 p.m. hop on a boat to another island, go to a beer festival, watch a live band, have a curry and still be home in bed before midnight... we are soooo lucky!! happy Friday everyone!!

Cider and beer festival??

My vote is that next years fish in is timed to finish when this festival starts :)

Grant, you never did get the chance to try my home brew cider, its called OMD & last years batch is a lot better than a lot of the commercial brews we tried.
I have got four bots of champagne cider left too...
The Herm beer festival is held twice a year in April & September..
