I know it's January and still winter, but the more notice I can give the better.
Following the success of the last DeeperBlue BBQ a couple of years ago, and as there are lots of new people posting on the forums these days, I though it would be a good idea to host another Summer Meet.

The date that has been suggested is the bank holiday weekend, Sunday 26th May.
I'm hoping this will give everyone enough time to pencil this important date it into their calenders and not get roped into doing DIY, going to Monaco or some-such.

I have two locations in mind so far for the BBQ.
1) Meadfoot Beach in Torbay. This was the site of our last BBQ.
or
2) Mountbatten Beach in Plymouth.

Both have access to slipways for those of you who wish to bring boats or kayaks, and there is free launching and free parking at Plymouth. Both sites offer good, mixed ground diving.

People can meet up early, go off for a dive and return for the BBQ, or just turn up later in the afternoon for a chilled out evening of food and tall tales. Families welcome, the more the merrier.

If you would like to nominate what is best for you, then I can confirm a location and time nearer the date.

Cheers all
Chris

Bah, would love to come but I'm in Monaco that weekend watching the Grand Prix.

Haha, a weekend in the sunny south of France with a pit stop tour and seats to the most exhilarating race in the world, courtesy of my in-laws parents

Or

Diving in the cold.

I'll leave it to you to decide

But in all seriousness I'd love to come.

Trelawney,
Good work on getting onto this in good time and for taking it forward. Am sure it will be a great event. See you there!!
D.

Cold? It might even be 12 degrees by then. There is always the Guernsey Meet in August. That's where the real party is...

Ill do the guernsey meet, my mam lives in jersey

I'm very interested in this, however i haven't voted in the poll as i can do either day and I've never dived either venue so i do not have a preference. But pencil me in for it, whatever the location or day : )

Definitely. I'm up for it. No preference on venue really - just whichever one is more likely to have viz (i.e. whichever one is most sheltered).

Don't think I'm going to be able to make the Guernsey meet this year as I'm going there for a family holiday (half my family are from Guernsey) and I can't really afford to go over there twice in a month! So definitely up for a meet-up closer to home. Thanks for organising it; if you need any help just let me know.

It would be good to have a meet up with others on here ! so I will almost certainly be there ! Is mountbatten suitable for a shore dive ? Being a natural pessimist I think I will bring sausages just in case !!!

I would love to come as well and have no preferance to either venue having never dived either of them.
Hopefully I might learn something from the more experienced spearos.

Take the Kayak mate plenty of spots within reach

Well, at this early stage, the majority of the votes seem to be in favour of Meadfoot beach on Sunday the 26th May.
Now we just have to pray for blue skies and calm seas!

Yes, for sure. I'll be booking the ferry at the end of this month. We're staying an extra day so we don't have to leave Foxfish's awesome fire house early like last year.
It's going to be a brilliant weekend.

Excellent, look fwd to seeing u guys there

I will be happy to provide a trophy for "catch of the day " at the meet . Is it possible to choose the venue closer to the date to take advantage of ( or avoid ) weather conditions ?

If it was to be at Plymouth then I will bring the boat down and stay the night at the mountbatton centre, they do cheap mooring overnight if you stay with them. £25 for the night with breakfast

Not so sure about Meadfoot......any recommendation for digs, cheap mooring as i'd prefer not to have to launch and retrieve.....
