DIVE FIT Course...

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.

DITTO to the above!

Actually ILDiver - I mostly service INDOOR whirlpools and fix damaged tub and or shower units...Plus do warranty service for most all of the MAJOR manufacturer's...Like JACUZZI for instance. I do hope things get better for the construction industry though...For me a building slump really does'nt affect my business much...If people are not building NEW..They are still remodeling...Especially bathrooms!

I feel so blessed!

Never in 7 years in business have I had this much work coming in!!!

I'd come work for you but I feel you would be off freediving all time while I worked!!

Landshark...You're probably right!:t

Sooner or later I'll find a way to make more passive money. Its always nice when I know I have three guys out workin' and I'm enjoying my family or freediving!

Yup...meeee toooo! :t

Thats FIVE for sure ALREADY!

Then there is Maytag too..He WAS interested when I resurected the Apnea/Freediving course thread started by a guy with the handle Gahiel....I wonder what happened to him?

umm Maytag? "He" ? rofl be careful there rofl

Well, whatever you guys end up doing, let me know what I can do to help out. If it's here, I'd love to come help with logistics and video-shooting for you all......be a safety diver, whatever.

If it's in Ft. Lauderdale.....hell I just spent 4 years there including taking Martin's course, so I can help you guys find a place to stay, etc. I know that area better than I know this one.......

Any input you need?

All my new cold water gear is in various stages of being shipped to Woodstock by the way.....

Sorry If I offended anyone...Namely MAYTAG. I do that alot somehow lately...I now changed my post to be more sexually correct or unisex...One can certainly tell who MOST women are on here by thier "handle name" or thier "avatar" for instance ISLAND SANDS' AVATAR...Or this one WOMAN who calls herself MERMAID ONNA and has an avatar that CLEARLY shows her sex....actually she has a pretty kinky myspace! So if any of you are into LATEX (not me!) check her out! Whoa! Nice but freaky!

Wreckrunner...I may get ahold of you at some point about logistics in the Ft. Lauderdale area...I'm leaning toward making it "family" vacation of about three weeks possibly this spring or summer...I have family down there, but they live in Jacksonville, Orlando, and Melbourne. Not too close to Ft. Lauderdale. I would just put my family up in a NICE hotel somewhere or leave them with relatives for the four days.

Maybe I should change my avatar to a BIG pink rose or something....just to confuse people!roflMy handle could be WHIRLPOOL....After all it's my job to fix'em! :t

roflActually, Island_Sands was surprised when she first learned that I am not a he! rofl

I think my parents thought I was a he, until I popped out and was missing a crucial appendage.

No offense. All funny.

Can do Bgill.......I know several NICE hotels that are in the $60-$70 if you know what discount to ask for.
Some places that look nice online are in really seedy areas........anyways, plenty of time for that advice down the line (no pun intended!!)

Yes, as Whopperhead said, I am quite willing to do the class with Jon. Unfortunately with the way our work rotations one of us will have to take off and it will have to be timed so the other has off. That only happens once every 5 weeks. This will only be the case until Jan '08 so next year will definately be easier- but I am flexible.

Looking forward to the next outing and trying those fins (thanks Jon).

Wreckrunner - Come to find out my Mother now lives in Sebastion....Only about 2 hrs 10 min away from Ft. Lauderdale!

My Mom already said she'll pay for the class if I bring the family down!

I won't let my mom do that but hey....That was really cool of her to offer!!! I want to pay BEFORE January....It'll save me a hundred bucks! Thats a hundred more bucks my wife can spend shopping! Or maybe I can buy something nice for my mother!

:inloveGotta luv yo Mama!:inlove

I'd STILL take Jon's class too...But I keep hearing so much about Martin's class - I think its almost a "must do" on my list of things I have yet to accomplish in life!

Scott and or Jon...I'm looking at getting a 3 mil open cell from Elios possibly for my birthday in January....I can handle not diving in the winter...I love to icefish...Would a 3 mil open cell Elios have been sufficient at Golden lake the other week? If so...Thats good enough for me! WITH A HOOD ATTACHED!

If ANYONE has a USED Freediver's depth watch they no longer use and are willing to part with fairly cheap - please let me know!

Bgill- it would probably work- but the 5mm would work better- If your going to get one get the 5mm - it take you into the warm summer months (July, AUGUST) then you can use something else or no suit at all. I think if you got the 3mm- you'll say "Man, I wish I would of gotten the 5mm" Just my thoughts though. But definately open cell and attached hood and an Elios

Thanks Whopperhead...Just what I wanted to know...in the summer I like to just wear shorts and a tight lycra shirt anyways! Keeps the weeds from gettin' me all itchty!

Plus you still have the suit you've been using. I'm scheduling a class, trying to arrange the details. Looks like the April Class.

Probably a LITTLE too early for me...but we'll see what "The Boss" says! Sure would be cool to split the expenses...Plus I know of a nice little HOSTEL we could stay at!!! Only Joking!!! See NOSTRES latest you tube vid!!!

We just had Martin visit Seattle to teach six of us. It was fantastic! Can't say enough about Martin and his clinic. We had tried to get PFI, but the schedule and commitment needed from 12 divers didn't work out.

Awesome pics, makes me want to go dive! I like the one of Martin with the needle in background. Mind sharing approximately what you had to paid per person once everything was covered?

I've been doing some quick math, with boat fees, the course is $675. If I go alone I need 5 nights hotel, if I could find one for $150, that's $750. Then I still have to get there, another $400 or so, plus food. Looking at $2000. If my wife goes, we go to my parents and then we need a rental car, but only 3 nights in a hotel.

Wow, the logistics of this is fun!

Chris,

Where do you guys dive down in Peoria? Maybe you could set the course up through the shop you work at. I assume you have a pool that you use and some openwater to train in that should work for the class- if it's deep enough.

Jon

Lakes around here, one is 20', one is 50'. Kankakee is 2.5 hours away and 80', $25.00 to get in. Trying to get a class together seems to make more sence to go up there if more people could commit, to make it more conveinent for more people.

If I had a place here and the interest, I would get it organized. It just does not appear to have the interest I hoped it would. And I'm still interested in your course too.

BTW, I'm not trying to move in on your turf as far as classes. I like to meet, learn and work with as many different people as I can. It just seemed the interest in freediving right now had a decent number based on what little diving I've done up there. But factor in $ and time....

The issue I'm having going there is time and school for my daughter. The course is the weekend after her spring break ends which means if she goes, she has to take 2 weeks off school plus the break. I don't like that. I really would like to go in March and the whole family go and just take 2 weeks and drive.

Don't worry about infringing on me. Before I had kids I had lots of time to teach. When they get older I will have lots of time once again. Right now I just want to get out and dive whenever I get a free minute. Having a bunch of qualified buddies around is always a plus- in fact, it was the reason I wrote the course to begin with.

Depedning upon your classroom/pool needs maybe you could put together a week long course up by Lake Wazee this summer. there are nice hotels to put Martin up in and reasturants to eat in at night. There are also 4 different campgrounds in the area, including one at the lake itself, for everyone else to crash in. The lake is 320' so should be deep enough for just about everyone in the group- except Martin. It's also the clearest lake in the state which makes it easier to teach in.

You could try to do Lake Geneva as well, but boats would be a problem- both chartering and avoiding.:crutch Lake Michigan is always an option since it has the deepest, and clearest, water around, but you never know about the weather and you need to go a lot further out to hit depth in the southern part of the lake.

Maybe you guys could come up with a halfway point. I have a good friend of mine who uses some quarries in Tennesse for his trimix classes in the winter time- he uses Wazee, fortune pond and Lake Michigan in the summer. There's a local diveshop there that i could hook you up with.
