Hi Spiderman,

Wow, they look beautiful...I think I'd feel guilty trying to get them...but maybe some chilli, garlic and a hot barbecue might help ease the emotional pain :) (OK, I'm hoping that it's not a no-no to get prawns?)

So...how big are they? Are they eating size or are we talking small shrimp size? And...do you stand a chance of getting them or are they super fast? I've caught them with the kids before in rock pools but that was by scaring them back into the awaiting net...there's not a chance in hell that I'd have been able to 'catch' one....so I'm guessing underwater...on a breath of air...I'm going to be hungry!

Re mussels - Cool! I'd never thought of buoy ropes as a place to look - thanks for the tip. I love sea food and just can't wait to have a first mission!

Ha! Just noticed the crab in the background!

As kids my old man would take us to some big stone groynes with a drop net he made us with one of them small net bags you get with washing up powder. Stuff that with mackrel and put it in the rocks for 10 mins or so then lift it out full of big juice shrimp. We would be out for an hour or so and get enough for a bloody good cook up when we got home. Delicious

hi guys had after totally ripping my 5mm socks to shreds i thought i should make myself some new ones. well out of the scrap that is!! what you all think?

Had a great dive down the Cove tonight, bagged a nice Mullet, there were lots of fish about, I saw a nice Salmon swimming over tower rock ( yes I know protected but great to see ) . Whilst sat at 10 metres a bleedin Bass about 5 pounds crept up behind me and was inch's away from my fins , errrrr the pint was nice in the cove pub with the sun sinking into the flat calm sea.

Hit Ringstead yesterday on the ebbing tide. bagged 2 bass within the first half an hour in shallow water; both around the 2lb mark. Moved to another area in slightly deeper water diving to 6 meters managed another bigger bass of just over 3lb. moved in over a reef in half a meter of water, I shot at a huge bass, missed and my spear line broke. I spent the next hour looking for it. I did find it, did a quick repair.

The tide was pretty low now and the reef was fully exposed; about 3 inches of water over it, so decided to belly crawl to the inside drop off near a channel through the reef and waited... bagged a big fat mullet of 4lb; it had a tiny head of a 2lb fish with a huge round body.

Saw another spearo out; anyone on here?

Back there today, leaving in 20 mins.

Hey guys, back in the UK for a little bit now, managed a dive this morning with area (poolewanderer) got in and immediately to my left was a big old looking bass, but it was literally in between myself and stew, luckily it turned around and started swimming out to sea, stew hadn't seen it at all so I took the shot and fish was on. Took it home and weighed it and it came in just shy of 7lb. Will attach photo shortly.

Great fish Ash. It was a fantastic morning made even better by seeing you take such a nice fish and the fact that you chose not to shoot me. ;-)

well done mate

i went in near kimmeridge this evening for half hour and got back out again as i could just about see the end of my spear. Waste of time and there was a strong pull to the tide tonight.

I went down to Eype last night with my paraglider and my spearfishing kit in the car. Opted for an hour of flying as the water had a distinct dishwater hue to it! While flying along I noticed that my little boat that I keep down there had been used and left right on the tideline again. Grrr. I wouldn't mind so much if people used it and then put it right back up the gully where all the boats are safely kept, well out of reach of the sea. However, whoever had helped themselves to my boat have repeatedly used it, damaged the stern, left it on the tideline at the mercy of the sea, and left it full of beercans and baked bean tins and wetwipes. Not nice. So I landed on the beach, packed up my glider, and loaded my little boat onto the roofrack to store at home until I figure out a way of locking it up down at the beach. It's a shame that some people can't be trusted to respect other people's property.

Just to add insult to injury, when I was getting the boat off the roofrack when I got home, I managed to slip and put the bow through the passenger window. :head Autoglass said £350 for a new window! So I went to a good scrappy on the A37 and bought a window for £15 and they fitted it for £25.

Aaarrgh... I've just noticed that they've also scratched loads of unintelligible writing into the side of the boat (hadn't noticed before as it was dark when I got home). Now I really really want to catch the little pikeys. Sadly I haven't got a day to spend down at the beach at the moment. Very annoying.

Sorry, I'll stop going on about it. Just needed to vent my anger somewhere!

I hate pikeys............

Anyway, not that I know the place, but can you dig in a spare tyre at low tide up the gulley when the sand is exposed & attach a rope, chain & buoy you'll then be able to lock it to your buoy? That's if you want to go to the trouble, Surfnspear has done that at the bottom of his garden with his rib. Just a thought, still doesn't stop the feckers from doing stuff though.
