You need to put some water in the bath mate, otherwise they could die!
Fresh water will kill a lobster in time. They will last for days covered by a wet tea towel or newspaper and left in the fridge. Although I tend to cook them straight away then prep them for the table.
I've had peeler crabs in my fridge now for nearly 2 weeks covered in damp seaweed and they are still alive

Sorry Dave, I was under the impression that you were a chef for some reason.
Thought you'd mentioned it before on the forum; or maybe it was because you sent me a recipe for tempura batter a few years ago that I got that into my head.
Did you used to be a chef?

That'll be why his 'recipe' basically said "open a bag of McBatter, pour over McFillet, fry until McSolid, slap between a couple of McBuns, eat . . . and then McVomit!"
At which point, presumably, Dave turns up with his mop.

First dive of the year for me, Just went for it with no real planning. Dropped in at about 1315 after a hot and sweaty walk to the water, Found a nice sandy patch with little bommies dotted about for cover. Dropped onto a bommie and hid in the weeds and this big old head came straight for me, Thank you Mr Bass. Nice 5 lbs fella for my familys tea!!! Vis was rather poor 4-5m with heavy plankton close to the surface, deeper down it was about 5-7m.

Your right, I was a chef a long time ago. Then I realised 60 hr weeks and working every weekend was no good for my family life and my spearfishing. I work in the fishing industry now. And make the finest tempura batter in the entire south west haha.. Just clocked off for the 4 day diving marathon otherwise known as the jubilee weekend. What do you do Gaz ? Some sort of specialised maritime security isn't it ? I've got a mate who's just retired from 1 para and is going to Somalia for 2 months private security work. Mega money !
Viz looks good here in Torquay atm. Went out with scottmcblue on Wednesday night and had a good 5m. Scott had lots of bass I had scallops.
Planning on coming up to Portland soon for a raid ! Recon I'll travel up on one of Shiney's Donkeys haha...

Close.. I had a brief stint as a peep show booth cleaner. Money was good but the customers were right wan£3rs.

In a Durlston earlier, 3x 40cm+ pollock on the stringer. Saw a small shoal of small bass (25-30cm) which payed me a few visits. Was a really nice relaxing dive until I had to walk back up the hill...
I do all sorts mate, including bits and pieces of security work.
I don't blame you for changing careers - it might be very satisfying to produce fantastic dishes, but all the chefs I know work the worst hours in the world.
Still haven't got around to trying that Tempura recipe yet, primarily because I haven't got around to buying a blender for the ice. But it's often in the back of my mind when I'm cooking my catch, and I will get around to it one day - so I'm still grateful to you for sending it.
I've really got into hot smoking my catch at the moment, including the bass - some people say that this is a waste of a good fish, but it's the way I prefer it.

You can take the chef out of the kitchen, but you can't take the kitchen out of the , err . . . bloke who cleans the tables at MacDonalds.

Morning all, my plans for today have been shafted again thanks to babysitting duties (can three year olds be used as a float... he likes my flag?!)
However I see the CV boys have pulled another donkey or ten off the bill.. 17lb bass. Excellent fish but cant help feeling a bit sad about the continual donkey hunt, perhaps I am getting soft in my old age but as much as I like hearing and seeing the donkeys it seems too many are being taken? All that said 17lb is a fish of a lifetime so well done.

Went out this morning with Nobby. Met Steve as he was getting out; nice to meet you mate.
Anyhow it ended up being a fruitful dive. We both wanted something very different for the start of June, so ignored the run of the mill bass and mullet,,however I did shoot 2 bass 1x 4lb and 1x just under 2lb:

Then swiftly moved out into deep water. I took my first dive down to 9 meters and spotted a monster sat in the sand, on closer inspection it was a huge blonde ray, so took aim and nailed it with my home made mini 50cm banded gun. Then went for a long 'water skiing' session,,,,,OMG! that thing was powerful!! after a good long fight I get it under control and on my stringer. Bang on 14 lb of Blonde ray!

However,,,,Nobby had the FISH of the day!!!!!! you wait till you see what's on 'HIS' stringer!!
