Jumped in The Harbour at 22.00hrs until midnight, vis was 3m+ but the run off made the water cooler and the vis had a halocline in places. Had a 2.5 lb Lobster a 3lb bass, a couple of flaties and a red Gurnard (which is a first for me) Spookie when it started croaking at me. Made my whole arm vibrate!!!!
Hit it last night with Nobby and Tye.
First spot started with 3 meters vis then quickly dropped to zero as darkness fell. Out we jumped and to the backup spot which held 4 meters of vis. The tide was ripping hard but we all managed a fish right away bass for nobby and I and a plaice for Tye.
I Picked up a couple of tasty lobsters and headed towards a sandy gully; on my way others nailed another 3 bass; all smaller table fish of just over 2lb. Then nail a nc fat 2lb flounder.
Get to the sand and drift the gulley with the tide in shallow water of 4ft, see 2 vey nice bass of 5-6lb
they see me and slowly head off, I follow very slowly with the tail Of the biggest bass in range waiting for it to turn, then 3 even bigger bass join the fun; when I say bigger I mean f@£&@ing huge!!! One being the biggest bass I have ever seen; he was all hunched backed and a very deep scared beat up fish, so figured he was at the end of his life and decided to ignore the other double figure bass and take him; I was thinking here comes a new record, fish of the year, food!! Etc...I get it just 2 ft from my spear side on and a dead cert, so with a big grin I pull the trigger and. MISS!!!!!!

Went in again For a late one last night. After driving to the intended spot, we met lee nobby and tye, where they told us the Vis had dropped dramatically and wasn't worth fishing. So we headed to another location. We jumped in and saw loads of tiny bass, will (rowlzy) and dan both saw a bass of around 2lb but both missed the shot. So after a while we decided to try a different location. We got in and will immediately saw a bass around 3lb but couldn't get a shot off as the fish was too quick. So we went for a long swim seeing lots of tiny bass, flounder and plaice along the way.
I then saw a head looking straight at me through some weed so shot and pulled out a bass that had been speared straight through the head, and out the centre of the tail.
Cutting a long story short, will shot a flounder, dans torch died and I came back with a plaice, flounder and bass. No huge size to any of them but all big enough for tea. So happy

Anyone thinking about getting in or around dorchester in the very near future probably a good idea to give it a miss - unless you are towing a boat !!!

Mmmm is it soggy??! I was planning on passing through tomorrow have been avoiding it all day lol.
Well done on the catches last night guys an unlucky on the missed monster. If you feel like telling me where the monster is hiding I'll gladly go find him tomorrow lol!

hi guys , got in for a late dive with tye and lee i didnt see any monster bass like lee did but did get a fair catch of three bass and two flounder.
bass was 2lb, 2and a half lb and a smidge under 3lb both flounder was a smidge under 2lb. happy with that result.
couldnt resist getting in this morn as well yet again got a run of the mill 2 lb bass and mullet also found myself a 2lb plaice. happy with that.
all in all not had the biggest catches of late but nice to get fish on every dive after beeing out of the water for 3 weeks

As lee and nobber said we went out Friday night, I had a nice plaice and a flounder, did not do as well as lee and nobby, funny because I thought I had the edge on them both with my eBay bass and mullet called. The eBay listed stated that the bass caller was ment to mimic an injured mackeral screening and seaweed noise for the mullet but it just let off bubbles under the water and almost drowned me. Shall I leave him negative feedback. Lol.
Ahhh but your mistaken your bass call worked a treat, its just the boys saw them before you! Lol
Very true. I think they had the edge on me with there bright light house torches. next time im buying this lol Archon Professional diving Series D D100W LED, max 10000 lumens waterproof torch | eBay
Interesting torch Tye, looks like a the body from a Xeccon D3X. Ironically, you'd be much better off with a small, 1,000 lumen focused beam torch than you would with a 10,000 lumen flooding beam with no reflector. The beam angle.on that torch is 120 degrees which would be terrible for UK, low to mid viz spearing - think full beam headlights in fog.
Trust me, I know from experience!
I have three 1,500 lumen torches without reflectors to focus the beam that flood at about 70 degrees, if I hold all three together (4,500 lumens) they are not as bright as the hot spot from a 400 lumenPrinceton Tec LED. In UK viz you need a focused not a flooding beam to to cut through the murk!

Very true on the torch stakes, I used to use a halcyon HID with a 3degree reflector, worked a treat but was expensive to maintain and bulky. I now use a UK SL3 (I think, whatever the latest single tube one is) which is cheap (£40) and cheap to run/repair true it is no where near as bright but perfectly acceptable. I have a mental plan to make a better one involving aspheric lens etc.buit its still a mental plan for now!
Broseidon, what torches do you have with bad reflectors, perhaps some reflector swapping is in order.. I may be able to help

Thanks for the offer mate - really kind of you! Fortunately, I'm able to return them to the guy I got them from, I'm swapping them for something else - not 100% sure what yet!
If you're building your own, I'd go for a longish, deep reflector to really contain the beam, I've seen a few nice custom Maglights with them on Candle Power Forums - I'd persoanlly avoid aspheric lenses as they cause the light to spread - the torches I've got have small aspherics over each LED:
