Hi guys went for a dip today in the harbour bit chilly but found the biggest flounder ever!! 5.5kgs

Nice one that, area looks sort of familiar, ;o).

My last outing on Wednesday wasn't great, although my bud got a fair few scallops.
Three weeks prior to that got some nice fat plaice & it was teeming with shrimp, I was going to drag a pair of tights & a coat hanger behind my float, but forgot, just as well as it was lacking this time, probably the reason we didn't see any flatties.

Yeah I'd go bk in a heart beat such a beautiful country n I want to see the aurora

So two years ago i was trolling through DB and I came across a article from Anders about spearing halibut in Norway. I've always wanted to go fishing for cod up there. So I email jamesT the link for him to read, knowing James I knew he wouldn't need much persuading! So we booked a trip to the north and sent Anders a email asking for tips and if he would like to join us! First day, we head out into the fjords looking for the diamonds in the sand but no joy! Second day , were up early stuffing our faces with porridge ready for another marathon swim in the 9deg water to be rewarded with my first hailbut 5.5kg (the one I posted first). Third day, Anders joins us for the day and he kindly shows us to some of his spots, where he nabs a cracker off 22kg. Day four me n James head out for more of the same, James catches his first halibut of 10kgs. Day five n were tired and getting cold really quickly so after a few hours we head in to warm up, then head back out with the rods catching coal fish on mackerel feathers, I've never known a fish fight so hard! Now to day 6 and Anders is back with us for the weekend, we head off to spot where we saw a massive shoal of herring the day before. Me and Anders are in first. I'm scanning the sea bed in just over 10m when I notice something on the bottom, diving down a 4lb plaice is sitting there so I let him have it with my 1.3m RA :) second drift I dive down to 12m looking up the almost sheer sandy drop off I see a diamond swimming up to it I notice another one but bigger so go for that one, with the water being so clear I under estimated the distance n I'm drifting past it so I snatch a shot n hit the fish in the ass it takes off fast so I let everything go n call for another gun by time I get back to the float the fish is gone. With that I let James have ago after telling him where to go he drops down onto a nice fish of 21 kgs which has made his day n he gets out! After a few more drifts I find a nice fish of 9kgs! After dinner me n Anders are bk in the water but nothing else is seen ,cold n tired with afew fish in the boat we head in, on the way James wants one more dive. James is in first followed by Anders. As I'm dropping Anders in I catch James in the corner of eye making a dive then my float takes off up the fjord James! 35mins and 4shots later were dragging a monster over the side:) it weighed 81kgs and had I 3lb lumpsucker in her belly!

Fantastic mate! did you loose your gun on that fish?
Was it an expensive trip & was there any evening entertainment!

Did anyone else see that CrystalVis are closing down?

Bit of a bummer as I was really getting into their guns and had a couple on my 'must buy before the summer' list.

No we got them bk all 4 of them :) for seven days boat, car hire, digs and flights came in around £1800-£1900mark based on 3divers (one dropped out) there's nothing to do on the evening the nearest shop is 30mins drive away that's it! We had a few beers in the cabin and cooked our catch then it was bed time!

Is that £1,900 per person?

Beautiful fish !!!!!!!!! How did they taste ???

Good especially with some chorizo! but u need to hang them for a few days or they'll be dry! The Norwegians also bleed there fish which also makes a difference to the flavour!

Well I think you bled them aright yourself mate!
My mate went there rod fishing a few years back & bought loads of halibut back with him, some fresh some frozen & some smoked - I really liked it all yummm
