Dorset Spearfishing 2013

Don't recognise most of the usernames on this Dorset thread. Does anyone know if almostafish, Buster lung, Gloworm, 1 shot, podge etc still around posting?

As I live and breathe, Mr Soul, good to see you still in the land of the living mate.
We’re all still around just not so visible as we used to be, life moves on for us all, Glowworm has moved jobs a couple of times and is now in command of a large Dorset plumbing supplies company, The Dark Lord Almostafish spends a lot of his time out rescuing oil rig workers from the wrong side of the north sea and even I have had to spend a little more time making money rather than just spending it.
As for all these new guys, SHIT can some of them catch fish, well worth logging in now and again just to see the picts and read the stories.
Hope you’re well me old flower and you never know might catch up with you one day.

Will be getting in on saturday night at around sunset (2100ish!) and getting out at Moonset (0145 ish)! not sure where yet tides not too good for night dives, basically in over the low tide, but cant get the time for a day dive this weekend.

Had a quick dive last night ended up with 6 bass to 5lb unfortunately a larger one ripped of missed another 5 and left several more

Great looking fish Mr Clark! hope to see some one day! My plans have changed to an evening dive tomorrow (Sunday) over the high tide. this easterly limits the options slightly. if anyone goes out tonnight/tomorrow could you please let me know conditions. am thinking west side of portland at the mo.

Hey Podge - yep still alive and spearing. Just don't get on websites so much the past 5 years. If you bump into Bryn give him a big kiss from me! Great to hear from you. I've lost all the numbers!

Hah - yes I see some good fish from some of the newer members. respect.

I was down Saturday - big mistake with the easterlies. Viz messed up to .5m if lucky! Oh well was a good day to chill in the sun and swim instead. Sea so warm I was off a reef in just my trunks and gun... but bumped my head on a rock when I dropped 'cos of the bad vis.

Hope it settles down for next week...

PS - Anyone able to share what this new rep power thingy is I see on my header?Is it based on number of post or something similar?

Well I think thats the last time i bother with the cove for a while.... unless i hear of fish being taken there I will give it a miss! Nice swim down to Blacknor with variable vis. saw just one fish which happended to be a nice sized bass (7-8lb at a guess) which was spotted out of the corner of my eye. By the time I had the gun round it had gone into a large kelp filled cave. when i went down to it I could see him in there gutted! then a hell of a swim back, tide should have turned just before we reached the point but still seemed to be against us on the way back! bumped in to a spero on the way back who reported much the same (no fish). fingers crossed the conditions improve again and open up some other spots! damn easterly!

I guess you mean Lulworth cove? I thought about it Saturday with the easterly but to be honest I've never had much luck with big bass inside the cove and have to head out which would have given me the same problems as anywhere else. I'll keep my fingers crossed for next weekend.

BTW - talking of near the cove - has anyone fished around St Oswald's bay since the land slide a few months back? I imagine that messed up the vis for a month or so. I've given a miss since.

Yeaterday I took a nice stroll from Lulworth to ringstead. The bay u are talking about is muddy and surrounging areas very milky. U would have to head west about two miles from Durdle door to get nice vis.

I speared in lulvorth cove last friday. Vis was 1m-4m it depends from the part of the cove. Managed seabass for supper and saw few schools of sea bass and grey mullet. There are better spots around .

Alan and I set off on another adventure yesterday with the luxury boat in tow, however the strong easterly winds soon put a stop to that.

We decided on a shore dive dive on a chesil wreck in search for triggers, unfortunately none seen. we did manage to fill our stringers with bass 3-4lb range and fat flounder. a pleasant dive in the sun

Nice one Lee! You found better vis than I managed the weekend.

Jaca - thanks for the photo. I don't think I've ever seen it so milky. I think the combination of land side and easterlies has created one hell of a mix up in your shot of manowar cove.

Dove durdledoor a week ago and vis was 4m plus. Didnt see any fish however the dives were made fun by the various ledges and gullies! Dont suppose the landslide scared all the fish away?

Chesil Cove, only other option was in portland harbour. not been down to Lulworth since I went down with Slicky and the water looked like milk!
