I have seen a couple during the day, but I think they feed at night which is why they are more active, and more commonly seen.

I don't want to hijack the thread but if any of you dive and would like to recommend any regulators to use in UK sea and fresh water or more to the point ones to avoid that would be great - feel free to PM me if you want rather than turn this into a scuba thread !

Thanks for any advice

Went for a little dip in the Weymouth Bay Area last night viz around 2m milky/very milky. Apart from missing a bass, breaking my speargun, realising when I had got home I have ripped my suit . Not a lot was seen. Starting to think spearfishing doesn't agree with me. That's 3 bass I have missed this week not happy is an understatement. Especially as I am desperate to catch one.

U miss them bcoz ur desperate m8. When i miss fish it motivates me. :)

Your probs right mate. I've been told you always get excited and just try not to rush the shots just calmly breathing line the shot up and then take it. Which I've been doing but still miss ha. :( must he doing something wrong. Just going to try and find out what ha.

Raven, what gun do you have? I am using a Cressi Geronimo Elite which has an an open muzzle. I find it easier to keep both eyes open when aiming, lining up the sight, with the tip of the spear and the fish. Some people aim down the side of the barrel but I find it easier aiming from the center.

Multiprongs are good solution. I have got a picasso threaded trident that fits threaded shaft in my roller speargun. But u can get that http://www.picassouk.co.uk/product/trident-spear-6-5mm/ that is a piece of high quality equipment!!! The fish can berly move when u shoot it and it is easy to take it of the spear. Christmas is coming. Just suggest to ur santa what u want ;) i always do that. Hehe

Me and you just think alike as I have thought about the multi prong ha. Will write Santa a letter tonight and see what he may bring :).

Well done lee. I was wondering when we would be seeing a dive report and photos from you.

Aye that was Scoobaru ( Matt ),Cesar and myself. Was nice to dive with Cesar for the first time

So got in for a dip last night. Turned up at the first spot with Matt which turned out to be no go. so driving around for about an hour found a small amount of viz. Was around 2m milky to not being able to see halfway down your gun.
Anyway swimming about I had a really good feeling about tonight after my last few blank dives missing a few bass.
Popping my head up to check I was still going in the right direction I noticed Matt rolling about near the shore thinking he was in trouble I quickly swam over to him only to be confronted by him holding his spear with.... A bass. Felling pleased but a bit gutted I swam on with the viz being really really patchy. Then my moment came swam over a patch of stones on the sand and sat there minding its own was a BASS. After listening to everyone's advise I followed pretty much all of it, lining up the gun then a deep breath and BOOOOM, my first bass. As Matt was close to me, like a child let out a little cry of joy, he thought I had shot myself in the foot. Carrying on the same happened again another bass on the stringer. Was so happy felt like a child on Christmas Day morning. Well happy to get my first bass. They both turned out to weigh exactly the same. 2.7lb. Not massive but will feed the family for one evening :).
