Anyone know what vis is like Weymouth direction? Thinking of heading there tonight. Cheers, Nick.

Its been very quiet on here recently? Has anyone been in recently around bournemouth, swanage, portland area? Are there any vis reports for these areas?

Cheers

hope t get in this weekend but may be just a dip in the harbour as winds been blowing from every direction this week so most places may be low on vis round Weymouth area. anyone been in?

Got in Weymouth Bay Area this morning as I thought with the winds. Was around 1.5m viz. Tried Portland harbour in the more sheltered areas and again 1.5m viz at best. :(.

Hey got in for a little evening session last night with Matt. With in the first 5 mins we had to get out due to Matt breaking his gun :p. We dropped back in and not much was seen I just came home with a lovely sized squid so wasn't a total waste of time. Glad to be back in the water and getting wet again :) viz was around 1.5/2m very milky. :(.

Sounds like my last dive a couple of nights ago. Awful viz, no fish seen except for one fairly large flounder which I slightly damaged because I pulled on my floatline rather than the bungee of my polespear, and I came home with one large squid. The squid bumped into my leg just as I was taking my fins off in shin-deep water. I shone my torch on it and threw my polespear at it (primitive-man style!) and got it! Quite a satisfying way to take a fish.

As Ben said it wasn't the most productive of dives. I saw a large squid and shot it within 2 minutes of being in the water. Unfortunately the newly aquired gun I had obviously did not like calamari. The crimp on the mono caught on the muzzle, causing the spear to go right through the squid and continue into the sand with no mono attached. The squid shot off and i had a spear and a gun but no way of attaching the two. Luckily I wasn't far from home so nipped back to get another gun, when back in the water there was nothing else worth shooting. So not only did the gun let me down, I blanked aswel.

Monday night boredom can only be cured with.... A dive :). I know the weather has been crap but decided was better that sitting around watching the soaps.
Started of as I thought very cloudy 0 viz then it decided to open up bout 1.5/2m milky, swam around for about 1 hr hadn't seen a thing so decided I would get out when a nice size squid swam across my path. Added that to the stringer :). Carried on swimming around for a little longer, seen 4 very small mullet about the same size as ya hand then came across another 4 squid swimming together, that's another one too the stringer. Managed to get a shot off at a third squid but sadly it came off the end of my spear :(. Now sat with a nice cuppa warming up :). Hope the viz gets better :)

Popped in again last night with Matt. 1st spot 0 viz 2nd spot 2m milky. Not a lot was seen but I still came home with two fat flounders. Liking to get out again next few days :)

I finaly managed to post the pic of the trigger :D... just if someone was interested

Just been for a hike over top portland and around it. Harbour doesn't look fishable neither does either side of Portland :(. Looks like a waiting game now for the muddy and milky water to drop off.
