Dorset Spearing 2008

Haha, rumour has it the British record bass came from a lot of places! Maybe it did... I'll be sure to let you know if another record comes from there... or somewhere else ;) Mind you can confirm it still has big bass, although usually at the end of the season as last years bass will substantiate!

Think we all would.. it will definately be a great achievement. So where do people think the next British record will come from? Assuming of course there is a new one at some point. I think either The Eddystone or the offshore LIC hangout that rumour has it gave up a 16lb bass last week.

Fabio had a 14lb Bass from Kingmere last week.... it is possible it will come from there. Who knows where it will come from.... just be good to see something like this caught, in the Med, over here.....

God thats a good fish! Maybe with water temps increasing its just a matter of time. Mind you one part of me thinks its great (the spearo side) other side says its a shame, such a beautiful beast.. mind you don't think I could stop myself pulling the trigger.

Find the utube vid of that russian nutter shooting this monster (20-25lb ) bass with the home made aqua/air cannon thing! Funny as F! I think there is also one of him nailing this bloody big tiger with it too.. Happy searching!

Cant remember any key words but speargun and nutter would probably work! I cant get you T here as the streaming screws our little sat link.. And seeing as the company are paying me to sit here and do this then the least I can do is try not to screw it all up! Use forth Luke..

Ah, welcome back John! You can get spearing again now all that fluff chucking is out of your system!

Met up with Brett and Milkman Rick yesterday for a dive. We were in for 6 hrs! Longest dive ever in some of the best viz ever (wierd eh?) Short story is we managed a bass each. Very hard work, especially for an office boy... Great fun to dive with two extremely enthusiastic and funny chaps. See you next weekend for that elusive beer...

Phew, still feeling the calves climbing the stairs today! Nice expedition/exploration dive! Ben, think I would like to take the 'Bass Burglar' or 'Crash n Burn' taxi service in the future! Going to try and swing it for Sunday and come over from Newquay Sat night/Sun morn.
Rick! Rick! Are you still alive?!?:crutch

Hi guys
I started posting last year and just to say thank you all for the informative thread, last season I started spearfishing with the milkman and it was really enjoyable and quite successful in a couple of occasions. Unfortunately just recovering from knee op but hopefully ready to start the season in 1-2 w also wife due to give birth my 1st son early July so I presume this season is not gonna be a very prolific one for me but anyway if anybody interested to have a buddy I think is much safer...I am enthusiastic but not very experienced (only3-4 years self taught).
Also due to my job (vet) not available all times ,I work unsociable hours but I get odd in-lieu days as well.
hoping to meet you guys in the water
PS.Rick many congrats about your near future baby,I could not believe it,we are on the same boat mate!!.

Another weekend and another chance to go diving. rofl
A BIG THANK YOU:friday goes to Podge, GlowWorm, & AlmostaFish for taking me and my friend out for the day. Even though we did not see anything worth spearing :martial- May Bloom and sand permitting. We had a good day out.

Hehe!

The engine has returned (and my bank balance crashed!) so we'll be burgling away next weekend. Might even have cap'n Willi at the helm! Hop aboard...

Any news from Rick or is it serious?!!

:blackeye :martial:blackeye I took a beating but it was all over by Sat evening!! I am still alive! Let's keep the pint of marriage-wrecker for next time!! lol

Great fun though guys, nice to meet you Ben, and to catch up again Brett! Shame about the fishies, but hey ho, that's diving for you! I really felt it on Sat night - knackered!!

Congrats Cesar! Hope the knee gets better soon - we'll have to catch up and trade tales of impending fatherhood...and, er...sneak out for a fish!

Here's my fish from Sat am - gutted though...the rellies did appreciate it, so it was worth all the pain guys! :)

My attendance at the barbie is up in the air, but hope I can catch up with you all soon!

Hi guys,

Good dive yesterday with podge, gloworm, subaholic (nice to put some more names to faces!)and his mate. We managed to take HMS crash and burn out despite the big swell, captain podge guiding us safely out and back. The ground conditions meant that we were stuck for portland harbour as the only suitable dive site.

Vis was really iffy and ranged from half way along your gun to 5m+. No fish had by anybody but did see a few bass and mullet. Found a lobby in a hole and on my way back up for air noticed a big thornback ray led on the weed sunning himself. It distracted me somewhat and couldnt find the lobby again! Darn it! The ray was an impressive sight and despite the thought of skate and chips we left him be.

A good day out even if a bit choppy!
