F.O.M./F.O.Y. discussion thread for 2011

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Thanks Guys. That was a great bass for FOM and being your first double Ollie. Brett who would of thought a Mackeral would of done so well, mind you they are not a easy target. Bish if you had got up earlier the day you had your bass you may of got a bigger bass. Instead you missed the boat and i had to dive alone.
Im excited about Julys FOM. The Lemon Sole is a very rare flattie and hopefully a British record.
Thanks to all who took part in the June FOM and all those who voted in it.
Good luck for Julys Fom and safe diving.

All good fish, but the bream was something special, well done Nick.
(I kept your name and address Nick, thought it might be needed again, trophy on it's way.)

How do people:)

Just a note to say i agree rules is rules :)

would have loved to enter my catch, but to be honest the FOM comp didnt enter my mind till it was mentioned to me on nw thread. Lets say i was slightly distracted by the bass;) but lesson learnt, i will get me one of those lovely trophies another day haha!

i struggled to upload a pic to post on thread but getting the hang of it now.

I am looking forward to September, when the sea is hot and the kids are back to school ;)

Truly amazing fish, something like that can make you famous!

I am starting to reach a point where I think the fish might be better preserved as per a suggestion by someone I have spoken too connected with the Natural History museum. Problem I have is getting my head around the ethos of not eating something so magnificent that I took the decision to shoot.

Your call bro, not many this side of the world can offer you advise on what to do with it... I guess you gotta think like you suggest why you took the shot... or maybe on a deeper level why you spear...

If its for food, for self sufficiency then eat away, share with family and friends and make a big picture to remember it by...
Its you shot it for fun or as a trophy hunter then by all means stick it on a wall... but as you say something that magnificant deserves to be in the belly of a better predator, and not on a wall... in my humble opinion (of someone who could only hope to shoot a tuna in local waters).

PS...let the museum spear their own ;)
