F.O.M./F.O.Y. discussion thread for 2011

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Brett get down the bottom of the garden overlooking the sea, light the BBQ with the family and a few close friends, couple of bottles of wine and your camera and do the thing justice in the best possible way.
Enjoy mate.:friday:friday

I think the FOM the FOY is going to be keep in the side this year maybe the irish got some thing special in the bagrofl
That fish is going to take some thing extraordinary to beat maybe a GT come on shiny1

I have a decision. After some consideration, that fish SHALL be shown due respect from the context of the community I form a part of and be treated as a spearfished tuna, and SHALL be eaten.
I will however, be mounting the tail and sending the head to possibly the museum should they want it for specific marine biology, if not, does anyone have a recipe for the head of the first ever tuna recordered as speared in the UK ;)

Did you freeze the meat ? I have a killer recipe for golden roasted sesame seed crust with crushed black pepper corn seared lightly on the edges.

Awesome fish!! Well done :)

Possibly a one time ever chance for a FOM entry with a newspaper front page of your own fom entry :)

have the press got the story yet??

Give the press a call - they probably wont pay for editorial, but you can sell your pictures for which you own the copyright. Worth trying the sun, mail, telegraph, etc. as well as the local rag and tv. you should be able to get a few hundred quid for the photos.

Ya there was a local guy here digging some lug who heard some commotion behind him and saw a 2m porbeagle in beached behind him... his pics were in a few papers, will get some cash for some new kit allright ;)

Wow, two new species for British spearing, an 18lb cod (remember that one?), a double figure bass and a rug of a sole and still ten days left.

I hope Old Man Dave is enjoying all this, he would have loved the tuna, sorely missed is Dave.

I agree on OMD. Bet he is loving all of these different species doing his legacy proud in a Deeperblue way.

About 30 years back a locale spear fisherman reported to the locale paper of an encounter with two giant tuna swimming just below the surface.
OMD was getting everything ready to do battle with the tuna & dived the spot for weeks after LOL.

Topping my tuna would be at a high price rofl
