florida freedivers

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Hi folks, i will be in Miami mid to late sept, and would be keen to do some spearing, or even get some freediving advice/training. Not many places to get freedive training that i have found yet in Natal, South Africa. Although they must be there, just hard to find.

Hi rouspearo, thanks will do. Not to deep, can do 12 to 16m ok, deeper on a good day and with a few days diving done.
 
Howdy all I've just moved to the Ft. Lauderdale area. Looking at apartments in Plantation. I'm free to dive most anytime and would like to get out ASAP.

I'll second the motion on Kirk's clinic he's fantastic.

What is a pm? Do you live in Jax too? I was supposed to meet a friend at the 40 fathom grotto this weekend but the vis report was bad. Probably due to all of the hurricanes and run-off. I'd like to make it down there in the next couple of weeks if the vis improves. I train at the Beaches Aquatics Center.

Hey guys talks look pretty old but if you are there still i am a turkish freediver in Alabama and had started to dive with 2 american freediver in a quarry close to Birmingham, and also i am available for some spring diving in Florida but usually looking for ones that i can travel in a day. I am at Troy,AL.

Hey guys, I'm also gonna take a stab at reincarnating this thread. Anyone living in South Florida who needs a dive/spearfishing parnter? I'm back to Boynton Beach from college Thanksgiving break and around Christmas time. This military college situation is NOT condusive to freediving and spearfishing, especially in Charleston!

Hi, I am visiting Florida in November (Orlando 12th - 27th) and was mailing to see if there was any body up for a dive whilst im there? If there is that would be great, please PM me. I'm willing to travel as i know im a bit land locked there but some of the springs look good too. If you cant dive then where are the best destinations to head for?

Hi Apneaboy,
Bluesprins is about 20 minutes from Orlando. You can find the web page on the internet using the google search engine. It is a good idea to call prior to visiting because they have been known to close the park due to a high bacteria count (I wonder if the Indians did the same thing back when the inhabited the park). The verticle cave is 60 feet or so and deeper if you enter but you'll need a light. The best part, in my opinion, is the manatees. The are very social but contact is strictly prohibited. I'm not sure how much experience you have freediving freshwater but it is definitely different from the ocean. If you are going to be in Orlando you should give it ago. Let me know when you'll be there. Although I've retired from freediving since moving to this godawful place I want some more manatee pics.
There is another location called the blue hole but they don't allow freediving.

I'm currently stuck in tallahassee florida for school during the fall-spring. If there is anyone on this board anywhere near on the coast or whatever send me a pm or reply. I don't mind long drives, i'm desperate to freedive. I train in a pool maybe a few times a week w/ a buddy but want to do more. If anyone one is up for freediving springs, spearfishing, whatever, let me know.
 
Yet another tourist here. Argh!


IM going to be visiting the Miami area during te first week in January. (I just found out about the PerformanceFreediving clinic the week after. Just my luck... :vangry ) My parents are dragging me to the Orange Bowl. They are huge Penn State fans. I dont like football very much. Go figure.

Anywho, I'm looking for a diving buddy for around that time. Im a relative newbie, still around the 10m range in depth. I'd like to try doing some spring diving if there is anything in that area.

If you wanna do some diving, just send me a PM, and I'll see what I can work out.

To the best of my knowledge the nearest springs are about 4 hours away around orlando. We do have lots of great reefs in the 10 m range. You might also consider running to the keys for a trip to pennekamp state park etc. I'll be around shoot me a pm when your getting closer to being here and I'll give you my contact info.
 
Na we have a spring here, it's called the Stink Hole. LOL There is a sewer out fall about a few miles out in the ocean, get some nice kings and jacks around there though.

Anyways, I am down in Hollywood. Usually out on someone else's boat though, but sometimes do beach dives and have an extra kayak.
 
Ok, guys!

Im on lay-over in Houston right now, and am about to head out to the plane to Fort Lauderdale. Im free all week if anyone needs a buddy.

Cant wait to do some diving!
 
That PerformanceFreediving clinic was all booked up anyways, you wouldn't have been able to get in. I've been out the last 4 days and am pretty beat. Got to work the rest of the week now. This weekend is supposed to go down to the 40's so you might have a hard time finding some people from down here to go out, LOL.
