FOM/SH Discussion thread for 2013

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Lol and me... In fact what I would really like to see is a double figure pollack on the end of my spear and I would like to see something new, for me at least may one of the much rumoured fish occasionally showing up, a barracuda or dentex or even a tuna!

Topknot have got to be the least skittish of all fish I know. In the day they are fairly common and can be touched if you go slow enough. At night I've seen them by the dozen at certain spots. Not going to be a problem for populations in this part of the world if a few are taken but a spear is probably overkill - just thread them straight on the stringer if you really want to eat one.
This one stayed put for about ten minutes while I experimented with different angles and strobe positions etc.

Nice photo , what sort of camera are you using ?? also a while ago whilst reading an article about sea horses it said that it is against the law to use a flash whilst photographing them !!! who the hell put that into law and who the F%&* enforces it !!!! ( i understand the probable reason for it )

Canon s95 with Sea&Sea YS-27DX strobes.
Most fish seem relatively unmoved by flash photography. They are much more likely to react to your presence than the flash. Not many let you approach numerous times like this topknot.
Seahorses have been shown to be more sensitive to flash than most animals and I suppose less able to make a quick exit if annoyed. As I understand it there's a general law against causing harm or distress to seahorses rather than a specific offnce regarding flash. I'm still waiting for the day when I get to see one!

Is the FOM thread for May up yet? If yes can someone link me to it. Ta
