Freediving and personality types

I've taken a Myers-Briggs test before but I can't remember what the result was. Here is a funny anecdote though that I think speaks volumes about freedivers.

I recently met up with the local freediving club training at a swimming pool in town. Only three other people showed up. One woman and two other men. I am an engineer (mechanical), one of the other guys is an engineer (software) and the other two people both work in software development I believe.

So yeah, in my experience mostly nerds like to hold their breath! This may make more sense to you if you are an engineer or if you're married to one, but basically we're all frighteningly similar.

The thing you'll notice when reading the descriptions is:
-Almost all of them offer a strange "hey, that kind of applies to me!"
-On a second glance, you notice that this is because they are really flattering for the most part - people like to be flattered and when done so you get the feeling of "heh, well I guess that's kind of true".

I've seen other variations that included also some of the weaknesses and negative sides of each type...That's a lot more interesting to read (for example the description of INFP does not list all the negative things of introverted personality, it just creates some kind of holier than thou Gandhi-image of a value based world-lover - and image which I would gladly project. But nothing of the petty little nerdy boy trapped in a grown mans body, which is a little closer to the truth )

I never done one of these tests before, and to be honest I probably wont do one again.
I was a bit surprised by the answer though.

ESTP
Friendly, adaptable, action-oriented. "Doers" who are focused on immediate results. Living in the here-and-now, they're risk-takers who live fast-paced lifestyles. Impatient with long explanations. Extremely loyal to their peers, but not usually respectful of laws and rules if they get in the way of getting things done. Great people skills.
With there only draw back being an incredible weakness for pies.

If these examples just showed the negative side of personalities I could peg every one I know. I love problem solving and fixing broken things, so I tend to look at what's wrong with things so I can fix them, or make them better. This works well with man made things and processes, but is not a healthy way to look at people - I suppose.

My wife as an example, will not take the test, and I have tried to answer the questions as I think she would-- but alas, I can never finder her. This most likely is because I only see her negative traits (except her physical--which is very positive for my eyes only.)

INTJ, and I'm a marine scientist. I didn't think the questions were all that special, but the final result fits.

Did it again a some of the questions were a little sketchy and could be answered either way and got ENTJ. Can't remember what the differences were.

One thing common to the majority of the freediving community I have found is that they are pretty much all good people.

A lot seem to be financially poor but are intelligent and motivated enough to earn money if they chose that path. May I even say many have bohemian ideals.

INFJ - Protector
INTJ - Scientist

So can we say INFJ is this ideal based on these results?

Seems it takes all sorts.

Do you follow the series Star Wars, The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network? It's amazing what can be done with the characters and the realization of their force powers when animation is used instead of human actors. My favorite Jedi is Anakin before he turns to the Dark Side. Who's yours?

Well each letter stands for a certain major characteristic - eg. Extraversion/Introversion thinking/ feeling etc. INFJ are the letters that appear most (at that point in the thread).

Obviously we need a much larger data set to come to any meaningful conclusions. I was being 'tongue in cheek'.

INTJ, every time I take the test, though I sometimes try to approach the questions differently and make sure I'm being honest, so I guess it's right.

I had 4 (!) questions where I wasn't happy with yes or no kind of answer.
When I took the test again with opposite answers, to my surprise I got ENFJ again. Very interesting, I was sure it would change my type

This free test is not as good as some of the others. But the price is right and it is interesting for some. The most accurate one I took was from a book my daughter had. If the description doesn't fit ---- it's results are wrong. There are of coarse 6 million or so variations within the 16 types. We are all different.
