It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Finally we arent so few!!! that s good. I am from Greece and I used to spearfish when I was there. Now I live in Glasgow and I am looking for someone to train with. I think we can arrange a meeting to know each other and discuss what training and diving opportunities we have. What do you think?

Yeah I would love to meet up and talk about our options. Private message me with your phone number and I will give you a call. I am hoping to get a pool session organised up here or in glasgow over the next few weeks.

Will

Could anyone in the Glasgow Scotland area interested in being part of the Scottish group which I am trying to set up email me with your details, email, name phone number etc and I will try and organise a meeting where we can all chat about what the future holds as regards to Freediving/Spearfishing. I am hoping once I have confirmed a weekly pool session to get Steve Millard form apneists UK up to run a Pool safety course for us. I am hoping to get things up a running so we can all train over winter and be ready for the warmer weather coming in next year. I still plan to dive open water over the winter at Capernwray Quarry. My email is musicismylife2003@hotmail.com

Thanks

Will

HI All
I am also keen, I live in Glasgow kitesurf off troon, I spearfish as well and getting into freediving. It looks there are a few of us so may be we could start something. If you are already doing something please keep me in the loop.

All the best

Get onto magicseaweed and just look for a relatively settled spell of weather to allow the soup that is the North Sea to become clearish and pretty sure you'll find some fish on the coast above Dundee. Cheers

Hi Guys and Happy New Year!!
William, I will send you my number in your inbox. I am keen to get to knowall of you guys who spearfish in the area and would love to arrange outings! I am looking forward to getting into the water again........
William, those sessions at Kilmarnock... are they only on a Fri night?

Cheers fellas.

My parents have just moved to the Highlands of Scotland, just below Ullapool, I really hope to find people there as the water is protected by Skye, Harris and Lewis and it would be much safer with others.

If not I am willing to travel as I have a lot to learn. Lets see if i can get an AIDA* done first.

Hi All

Just found the forum- great

I'm Edinburgh based and been spearfishing here for the last 10 years, well up for meeting up for a dive or three this comming summer!

Some great spots just south of Edinburgh including some shallow caves we found last year.

Spearfishingwise - its very seasonal, barren through the winter but from early May on life seems to arrive- lots (and lots) of lobster & velvets, August pretty big pollack (10lb regulars), not seen a bass yet though they are at Torness- I just aint got the balls to dive in that hot water outlet of the nuclear power station.... yet (I did buy a geiger counter and checked out the beach!?!)

Water clarity can be pretty poor but a few days calm or a SW-ly the south shore of clears up nicely, 10m or more at best

Would be great to arrange a spearo/bbq thing some time this summer.

Cheers
Pete

Good to hear there are a few other people around. There is a bunch of us on the west coast, check out Williams post.
We are planning to head east soon, fancy checking out seacliff etc.. and the dunbar area.
So we will probably drop you a message if we do. We are also getting more organise with regular pool sessions that you are more than welcome to join

Hi Everyone

I have organised for a group of us to go down to Manchester on the 16th April to do the Aida 2* with a top Aida Instructor called Steve Millard. Steve is training athletes to both national and world class standard and runs the the UKs national freediving competition. He has a wealth of experience and his training has helped me to enjoy the sport by equiping me with the knowledge required to dive comfortably and safely.
If any one is interested I can have a word with him and see if there are any space left on this course, if it is full I will be sending down some other divers in May and June so dont miss out on this great chance. Providing I can fill 4 spaces he can offer us Aida 2* pool and open water training and certificate for £225 per person.

The course is worth it to learn all the safety, physiology and training drills. My diving has improved 10 fold since working with Steve, if you have been considering a course this is the one to do. Looking forward to an awesome summers diving. Its great to know we are not alone and there are a few of us freedivers and spearos scattered around Scotland. See you in the big blue soon!!!! (or should I say the Murky Green???)

I look forwards to it, seacliff's a great spot, 15m "off the cross" and loads of sealife. Also an exciting current at certain times of the tide between the island

Another guy from edinburghs just messaged me- so looks like there might be a few of us getting together this summer!

Normally go off coast above Arbroath and wondering (though suspect I know the answer) if it's worth taking my stuff next weekend as I'm off to the Crinan/Loch Sween are for a week?

Cheers

I split my time between Edinburgh and Shetland. Sadly i'll be up north for most of the summer but might manage to pop down for a quick mainland session.
I'm here until the 16th June and mad keen for getting out again.
Its been a while since I even held my breath but I have my gear and a swimming pool in our flat complex so no excuses.

Got transport too (if I find my keys that is) and would love to explore the area.

So it looks like i'm going to be based up in Edinburgh during the week till mid August now. If any Scottish freedivers/spearos interested in organising a DeeperBlue.com meet one night Mon-Thurs during the week let me know i'll if enough interest i'll get something organised.

Hi Stephen.
Come this monday once my main project is out of the way I'll generally be free any night.
Keep us posted when you fancy a session be in pool or sea. Andrea, a lad from italy is very interested but has left his wetty etc back home but will have it come June.

I'm heading off to Torness next wednesday for frst session in the sea since last spring.
