grr! I need to rant.

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 90 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I agree with Samdive. There is always room to learn more. The risk of believing yourself an expert is that you might then think that know it all or enough and stop learning. Learning is a life long pursuit. Things change. The available information increases. Myths get overturned. Barriers move.

I don't know anything about therapists but I heard folk in the USA talk & write about avoiding "toxic" people - people with a negative attitude that tend hold you back, keep you down, stop you growing. Be careful by all means (suggest reading Terry Maas's article on Shallow Water Blackout) but live your life. Tony Babowicz's offer sounds like just the thing: a way to progress more safely and get some more positive influences. Take a responsible adult (e.g. parent) with you if you are not yet an adult.

Taking a critical perspective, I am surprised at how many of the pundits on this thread have declined to deconstruct the input of the mother. Is she not at the heart of the matter? Seems to me a simple case of parental interference. The therapist is merely the stooge, the lackey, the lickspittle, the fall-guy of the opera's central protagonist.

Haha this thread is brill!

Following on from Laz, I just presumed the mother made a passing comment to the therapist, perhaps when she picked her daughter up? Possibly just being presumptious but definately worth a look into! rofl

if anyone can tell me they have a mother who approves of them freediving I'd be pretty surprised!!!

I'm 36 and my mum still regularly asks me when I'm going to give up and couldn't I just enjoy snorkelling?

I darent' question the Lil D's mum because (I'm guessing) I'm about twice as old as her and my mum's still trying hard to wield her powers....
