Nice one Jake. I was interested but the footpockets would be way too small for me. I think the footpockets alone would have cost you more than that. How many pairs of fins have you got? I've got two but I fancy a pair of camo fibreglass or mixed glass and carbon ones. The new orange mustangs look ok if they're not too soft.

Yeh, footpockets are too small for me too but can flog them and just use the ones from my Ice, you can only use one pair at a time after all and only takes a couple of mins to swap them. Got some other random footpockets I haven't used yet too. Must have a clear out some time!

I've got Ice, Apneasub Powerblades and now these. Will probably sell the powerblades if these turn out ok.

Have eyed up those Mustangs too, always thought the mustang footpocket must be really comfy but the carbons were far too expensive but these new ones...

How much do I pay for a spear caught bass? Well about a thousand pounds a year on kit & time off work!!

The mullet and gurnard looked a much better buy. Maybe bass'll go out of fashion again.

I saw on a Tv programme that line caught retails at twice the price.

Me birthday pressie's arrived! Mrs Sarnian won't let me have it yet though.:( Just need some decent conditions now to try it out ( and manage to slip away from putting up lights, decorations, shopping ....):head:vangry

This seemed to be the cheapest place around, and very helpful.

Got me a new torch too.

I'd been on the look out for a small torch for the mask strap.

Currently use one of these:

UK 2AAA Penlight

Which was the perfect size and enough output for closeup work, stringing etc BUT the big problem with this and every other small light I'd found was the twist on/off switching mech. That means they are difficult to turn on with one hand (others holding the fish).

So I'd been on the look out for one with a button and eventually came across this:

New LED strobe torch. hands free head straps superb!!! on eBay, also, Dive Lights Torches, SCUBA Snorkelling, Sporting Goods (end time 27-Nov-07 23:45:00 GMT)

Well its just turned up and its bloney good! Output is better than those smallish ones some of you boys bought and its small enough not to be too bulky on the head and the added bonus is the mask fixing bracket which is fully adjustable up/down and in/out to get it pointing where you want and fits well on my Omer mask.

Magpies bargain rating: 5 stars.

That does look good Maggers, probably wait till spring before I get in again!
Thing is - you young guys just dont understand what it is like to be wise & old?!
I would have to say the last few weeks have seen my freezer completely depleted of fish. My God what is this world coming too - even my brother is not catching anything & it is christmas when I really need fresh fish to feed my friends.

Didn't say I'd be using it any time soon!

I've packed my gear away and I doubt it will come out till the spring, but then I am an old git now too eh.

I saw another one with a built in mask strap like that Tom, but can't find it again!:headDoes look good value, although I've found I just keep it turned on all the time anyway. I'm an even older git, and I've got a repaired gun and a new torch both needing to be tested!

Looking calmer for the weekend though ...

Thanks but I love this time of year regardless of the weather, its Christmas you know? the worse the weather the better the atmosphere! However January is crap, then I would be interested.

Hi All

Not been in since 2nd November!!!. Have had BAD ear infection :rcard Have now regained hearing, but still not 100%.

Despite reading about all your new purchases have resisted the temptation and have remained very strong willed.

Spent a week in Cyprus and sadly had to cancel the 2 days tank diving I had booked :waterwork The water was pretty warm, I swam with my head above the water, can you imagine that? The closest I got to a fish was the attached rofl in the crappiest aquarium I think I have ever been in. Excellent fishy lunches despite the size of the fish we were served. The cuttlefish as you can see were tiny, but then that's the Med.

Got the skis out last weekend to sharpen the edges and hot wax them. We are off on our annual trip next week for Christmas and the new year. There is already over a metre of snow on the slopes and it has been described as the best early snow since 1996!!!

Andy, sounds like a good holiday, hope your ear improves fully soon. Les Gets looks good (I take it that's where you're off to for skiing) - i used to fly around the Annecy/Grande Bornand area, not too far away - superb mountains!

I manged a short dip tonight, just down the road from me. Vis was appalling (end of the gun) although on the bottom it was slightly better (+ half a metre)!

Gave up early as it was so hard to see and still quite a swell running, might try again on Friday.

Look on the bright side mate - next season will be your first full one = loads of good vis & fish suppers.

In for a night dive but as I feared the conditions are not really good enough after the last 2 weeks of "weather". Vis is improving and tomorrow would have been better but have another engagement. Saturday should be okay too if the weather stays settled or at least if the wind stays south or east.

Low tide was 3pm today and it was dark-ish when I went in at 4.30. Bit of a swell which stirred up the bottom - not good for flatties or the vis. Could see at least 3 foot everywhere and up to 10 foot in places. Air temp was low but water didn't seem too bad and 1.5 hours with my 5mm plus a 2mm vest was okay.

Managed to find one smallish plaice and saw 3 bass but I was lucky to see that much. The bass were all in the shallows and I eyeballed them in the low vis while not even able to see the end of my gun. Still small plaice for tea and that's my favourite so not a total disaster. Fingers crossed for saturday.

Dave

Good effort Dave I was Xmas shopping in town - I just know I am going to have a hangover tomorrow!
