Thanks, gents, for your well wishing comments.

I'm very happy to announce the arrival of Jean-Pierre Lenormand, at 0:17 on Mon 02.07.07

It was quite a rough ride for Mum, and I have a massive new-found respect for her - and in fact all mothers!

The boy's gorgeous, of course and feeding well. I hope to get him out in the ocean soon - and I wanna see what he can teach me about breath-hold! (The dude's just done a 9 month static!)

Congratulations to all 3 of you.

My eldest is 17 this month, now that makes me feel old! They are so rewarding (well most ofthe time)

Andy

Nice one Marcel and family, George can stop worrying now!

Congratulations. It's been 3 and a half years since I was in your plate, haven't forgotten though. Enjoy the early months, they grow up before you know it.

Well done Marcel and other half! Marcel, I can't believe how spooky it is after my comment about choosing another good name, that you chose the name of my son No.2 ! Lovely picture. Hopefully we'll all have a chance to wet the head properly in a few weeks.:friday

Congrats to you and your family. My nephew is a Jean-Pierre, good Guernsey name. Yes, they do grow up quick but then they have their own children.

Old Grandad Dave.

Congratulations to you and your family, another Guernsey spearo in the making!!!

Congratulations to the family Beardy.
Glad all went well and a glass will be lifted in their honor at the end of the month.:friday

I visited Jean Pierre in the hospital yesterday. He was exercising his lungs enthusiastically. He can actually scream on the inhale and exhale!

Karen (Marcel's wife) told me that Marcel dunked the poor chap during his first bath to test his mammalian diving reflex. Apparently he barely spluttered. Now THAT is a dedicated freediver!

Congratulations Marcel, hope to catch up with you soon - might be a fire down my garden soon.

Cast the lead for my back weight last night. Came out at 5kg which I reckon is about right. Yes the mould (or is it mold?) is a chinese takeaway container with wooden pegs screwed through to a baseboard! Once its covered in a car inner tube you won't see it anyhow. Hope to cast the 2 front weights this p.m. @ 2.5 kg each ten fit weight belt and webbing and wait for calmer weather..... Saturday morning looks like it may be summer.

Andy

Thats a big old lump of lead Andy, good job. I've got 10lbs in my backweight so should be fine. How are you going to put the straps on? Is it going to be quick release?

One thing you'll need to think about is how to stop it smacking you on the back of the bonce when you dive. Mine attaches to the weight belt, but then its much harder to ditch in an emergency.

This is how it will look when complete. The waist will be quick release but not the arms, unless I incorporate some of those plastic snap together clips, but then it starts to get more complicated, the commercially available ones don't seem to have quick release shoulder straps anyhow.

Hi foxfish, would love to come over.. but the weather has been crap, never known it to be so bad.. We have loads of bass over here but very few mullet. the largest so far is 1.5kg.. I hoping to come over in august as l`m off for the 1st two weeks.. Not sure if l`ll bring the rib might come on carferry?
Happy hunting
loops

I had a 5lb mullet a few weeks ago (the last time i went) interestingly but not unusually my dinner guest preferred the flavour compared to the 5lb bass I had caught the same day!
& of course you must come over for the day at least. :)
