Guernsey 2007

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Well , OMD's excellent videos inspired me to finally get round to putting mine up from my Guernsey trip this summer.

Heres the first
watch

WOW Draenog the quality is great considering its been thru youtube what camera setup are you using?

Cool Ray... I once nearly did a Steve Irwin on holiday whilst diving at night. Dropped down about 10 metres and only realised it wasn't sand when the 6 foot long beastie moved from under my feet. Gave me more than a little bit of nerves I can tell you!

Nice video Draenog, I like the pthers on your utube also. Is that red mullet actually sleeping - I can't believe it doesn't move.

Cracking lobster Tom. Great videos. I'm still without camera took it in end of august and still not returned :rcard

Went in yesterday over the low water.

In at 13:10
Out at 15:25
65 dives
max 38 secs
3.9m
14c

My eyes hurt from looking for flatties but nothing. Nice to be in the water though and swam miles!! Lots of rockies on the big isolated reef in the middle of the bay inc a couple of monsters. There was a fair bit of swell over the sand and not a breath of wind. The kelp seems to be dying off now. Saw a large pipe fish (over a foot long) hiding in the kelp. Also discovered that vazon isnt the only bay with peat beds. Lokks even more swelly out there this morning and wind sw and up to a six this afty so will have to do some gardening today:(

Glad you like the vids guys. Can anyone explain how you embed a vid in the post rather than link?

Nice vids. How do you set up the camera- is it attached to the gun or what? I'm sure this has been covered somewhere in the Forum.

Andy, yes it doean't look good, with high springs as well. Today better than tomorrow though, perhaps in a sheltered spot ...

Here's another (a nice red mullet - bit blurry though). hopefully this will embed in the post.

The camera is a fuji F10. Carried in the hand (I do my hunting with just the camera)

Draenog, that appears to me as a load of symbols!

So Dave, how do you mount the camera so you can shoot ( fish) at the same time?

As conditions weren't good today, I went to a sheltered West coast spot so I could at least shoot pics, if not fish.

This is just a test from a different site to see what the quality's like - hope it works.. Quite clear, but unfortunately no fish of any interest apart from a few mullet. These were the only successful shots!:)

Here's a link to the red mullet vid

Very jealous that you guys still have visibility. As usual it went to nothing months ago here.

Edit - ahhh, that's how you do it.

Here's a couple of short new vid's.

Colin, I was holding camera in left hand, gun in right. However have built a mount which I tested today, as used on these 2 new vid's.

Great vids Dave.

So how come your vids have a still pic while mine have a hot water bottle with a clock?

Great again Dave. Really makes me want to get back in the water but I just don't have the time at the moment, I can't do worse spearing than I am dangling at present.

nice vids guys,
@Sanian, looks like good vis! I didn't spot the mullet in the vid.
@Dave, More fish than I've seen in the last 6 weeks! :) nice editing/splicing of the footage, just need a bit of music...

Epic dive tonight around bordeaux harbour with GBO... saw one pollack, shot it, but spear lodged firm between a rock and the side of a pier. Then suddenly the current really kicked in, we lost vis and swam like to mad to find a nearby rock to sit on to rest. Decided to go back for speargun, swam back up pier, couldn't see it - or the pier most of the time. Current really racing. Rested again on another rock, made a plan, dived the plan, found the gun, dislodged the spear - bent the spear but kept the fish!

Great to be out after quite an absence but quite a challenging dive! Hey ho. Stories to tell and a fish to eat. :)

Great vids chaps. Been meaning to post some the G and I shot... but just not had enough time yet.

This is how I mounted my camera on the gun. Just used my Beuchat 90 with some HE 30 marine ali plus some stainless nuts, bolts etc. Simple but effective. Gun's still easy to load and the camera controls are very accessable.
