Afternoon all,

did anyone get into the harbour on Xmas day? I was there on Xmas eve and the vis around the emplacement looked good.

Looks like I may be out of the water, as well as off the top of it, for a few months as I've busted my scaphoid. Not my drinking hand though!

Weather and Vis are looking super-duper... Anyone want to join me for a spear/swim/dive later today? low tide is 1:30 ish.

I’d love to Jonny, but I’m sat back in the office:head:head as someone needs to keep the country going when all you lot are still holidaying it up.:fridayrofl:friday

3 words Jonny....Too bloney cold! or You're bloney mad or Not a bloney chance (Yeh yeh, I know thats 4.) Good luck though chief!

Been having a post christmas clear out and found some stuff that belongs to someone off yer. So, could the owners of:

Peche Sous-Marine sur epaves avec Christian Andre DVD
The Helldivers' Rodeo Book
Chase the Adventure Book

Let me know and I'll drop them round. Think some of it is OMDs but not sure because I've had them a while!

Where are you thinking of going? A friend and I are thinking of going in this afternoon, if I can get off work that is! Checked the vis the other day at Amerreurs and It was really good. Really wanted to get in but I would have only got an hours dive in before the dark.

Hey njb i was thinking about going to Portelet harbour (Rocqaine) and swimming around to pezeries (left) as it would be sheltered from the wind. Just been out taking some photos of oystercatchers and the vis look quite reasonable.
How does 1pm at Portelet car park sound?

c'mon tom, you know you want to... I think the chase the adventure book may be mine (is that the kiwi one?)

Yep, thats the one. I'll bring it down Portlet for 1pm where I'll be dressed in my thermals and big coat and will laugh at you as you subject yourself to the sort of experience that feels so bad it must be good for you.

PS. Thats the Bay of Plenty round under the Pezeries, lots of fish round there, and a few seals as well.

These came from there, posted as a reminder of the time of year you SHOULD be diving rofl

The Christian Andre I think is my brother Mart's although you probably got it from me. Helldivers Rodeo is mine (well I own a copy so probably mine) and I do own a copy of Chase the Adventure if that's the one by Darren Shields but if Jonny has one as well then it could be mine (or jonny's?)

vis was absolutely stunning, i can only remember 1 day like it this year. No fish, but it was greeeat to be in and enjoying the whole thing. in fact i only saw 1 big wrasse, but i couldnt beleive the vis.. (did i mention the vis...) :)
planning to be in most days this week while the weather holds... so let me know if you want to join me.

Here's a couple of piccies and a vid (no fish in the vid but i'm still playing with vid resolution etc...).

Dave, the Chase the adventure book is mine (has my name in it), i lent it to you when you lent me that mad helldivers book :) you getting in the water this week?

Well done Jonny. Was the vis any good?

Sorry about the mix up over the book, wouldn't dream of nicking it off you :blackeye, must be senility.

Have my new suit so might well go check it out. However this time of year is better for night dives. Having said that the tides are not ideal for night time.

There's a chance of bass by day although some spots are probably better than others ;). Slight chance of a plaice and more especially sole as well but to be honest most fish have departed offshore to get on with their breeding. Reds should still be in at night.

Now a lot of weed has died back or been stripped away by storms then it's worth looking in holes for crabs and lobbies.

Ok Dave, I'll drop the book in sometime.

Here's a new game, you've heard of "Where's Wally?" Well, here's "Where's The Cold Blooded Muppet About To Get Hypothermia" game:

Glad your new suit finally arrived dave :) let us know how it fares.
gonna go somewhere deeper today, south coast i expect... will have to take the longer gun tho... :)

ok i went out somewhere for a dive today, on the surfy side of the island...
I had intended to go a bit deeper, but my ear wasn't clearing well so i just hung around the rocks/surf for a bit.
the water seemed slightly warmer than yesterday. D3 registered 8 degrees rather than the 7/8 of yesterday.
the waves over the rocks were messing up the vis (not as good as yesterday - it was amazing yesterday...) but it was ok, maybe 6m in the clear spots.
i came accross a huge shoal of good sized mullets and unfortunately watched them split in all directions :-(
hung around for a bit and tracked down a couple.
took two home for dinners :)
the smaller fish was much whiter meat than the other.. any suggestions why?

Nice one Jonny!! No idea about the fillets though, unless one of them eats less sh!t than the other one!! The red meat is the strong stuff but I find the white meat pretty good actually.

Gear question Jonny...is your banjo an underwater one or do you have a housing for it?

Nice one Jonny. You must have had the biggest number of dives this year!

Does anyone know when the ormering tides are? I haven't got a 2009 tide table and the info doesn't yet appear to be on any websites.
