Exactly what I do with guns of that type, I have an Omer I hardly ever use cos of that affect.
I have discussed it on another thread where I was looking for a tabbed spear. http://forums.deeperblue.com/euro-spearguns/83433-euro-tabbed-spears.html I have taken pics of the making and will post a thread in the next couple of days.
Basic idea is to run the bands parallel to the spear. When I used this gun without the mod last year but with a circular band I couldn't hit sh*t as I sighted down the angled bands as well.

Just back from Rocquaine, nothing doing, just a few scarpering bass seen, viz was average becoming poor as the tide rose.
But, in the shallows were a handful of White Bream in a range of sizes, from tiny up to cd size, which was nice to see.

Went in for a quick dive with Tom last night. Well Tom went in twice but I'm sure he'll clarify 
Had a bass over the sand and saw 5 others. All mid to small sized. Saw one small sole but that was about it... all a bit desert like. Anyway, nice to get in again and good company too. Might go next month too... (must go more often !)

Yes, trying out my new bodged cheapo super poer bike/dive canister goodman torch, work beautifully....for 20minutes. Then it dropped to half power and then started flashing and wouldn't turn on. So back I tramped to get me old torch out of the van. Haven't conducted the autopsy yet but it it'll probably conclude it's futu.
For myself I didn't see any bass, one small sole, some huge scad, and another white bream. This one was a loner and a bit bigger than the others, maybe even half a pound.
Oh well, back to the torch bodging board.

What was the vis like boys and by that Tom I mean WHEN you had a working torch.
Regular readers might note a lack of reports from me of late. I've had an external ear infection for nearly a month. Took some oral, broard spectrum, antibiotics and 2 different liquid antibiotic ears drops to get me back on the road to recovery. Nearly there now. Not that I've missed a lot judging by the weather outside today.

Had to cancel a boat trip today as my dive buddy was feeling crook. makes a change from my duff ear or bloody rough seas.
Celebrated my almost recovery with a quick shallow water weed hunt for a bass. In for an hour and a half starting at low. Vis was fishable but not much better than 10 foot at best. Saw 4 bass, 2 mullet and 2 large wrasse. The biggest wrasse was over 7lb I reckon, an absolute stonker. Was considering a shot but it exited stage left pretty quick and now I'm pleased it did. One bass was under size (ie tiny), one was too quick for me, one I missed with a quick reflex shot and the fourth gave me time for an aimed headshot and a clean kill. No real size but a nice eater.
Not much about all considered. Here's hoping for some decent weather now that I'm back in action. Going to give the ear another week before I see if the flats are in. In the meanwhile I'll see if I can find some bass in the shallows.

I went again today but despite a 2 hour dive only saw one bass. Saw some big mullet and a couple of decent wrasse but still seems very dead at the moment. Vis was 10 to 20 foot and seemed to be improving.
Mate of mine (who's not a DB member) shot a white bream of just under a pound recently and he also caught a decent trigger as well.
I feel the need to make up for the last month when I was laid up but need to find some fish.
